My daughter and I stopped by this gem of a museum on a rainy summer day. The art is memorable, the docent was fabulous, and the building is gorgeous.
Furthermore, anyone familiar with the Bell Museum in the Twin Cities is well advised to stop here.

Quite a unique place for a town the size of Aitkin. Some great artists in the area. Fun to see the talent in the area recognized. We always enjoy the items that are available at the Christmas Boutiquet

This is exactly the kind of place that makes Tripadvisor so valuable...a not well known local treasure. This free museum on a main highway going into Aikin formerly was Aikin's "Carnegie Library." It has been beautifully and lovingly restored.
The central story it tells is of a hugely talented youngster, Francis Lee Jaques & the Jaques Art Center
Francis Lee Jaques was hired by the Museum of Natural History in NYC that sent him all over the world because of his enormous talent. Some of his most beautiful nature works are on display - they're stunning. Two books he wrote with his wife also are available for purchase along with other locally produced art. There are periodic shows featuring nearby artists and local stories.
We were nearby at Ruttgers BayLake Lodge and checked Tripadvisor, which mentioned this. THANKS - this is a five story attraction for people who love art and stories about hugely talented rural people.

This Art center is Aitkins best kept secret. The artist who display their paintings and wares are so talented. Many beautiful items on display and for sales. Anyone driving into or thru Aitkin should definately make a stop and enjoy this Art Center

We are truly blessed to have the Jacques Art Center here in Aitkin. There are so many wonderful people who love and believe in art that they volunteer their time and talents to keep this Center going. Thank You to each one of you who have made this Museum and Unique Gift Shop worth the time it takes to stop and look around. I will warn you though- once you have been there you will want to come back as they change things around and focus on a new art or artist.
They also offer classes of many different genres where you will take home the finished project that YOU made. Put Jacques Art Center on your list of places to see.

This is a very special art gallery with a gift shop that is worth stopping to see if you are in the area. The standing Jacues exhibit is wonderful as was the current show in the front gallery. A great place to see work of local and regional artists

This is a small town gem hidden in the north woods of Minnesota. Small museum with big reputation. The have a yearly Plein Air event. When in the area you must stop!

The had a variety of things for sale in here and we have gone here after the fish house parade to buy a variety of homemade gifts and home items. For this special event weekend they do have live music and donuts & cider as well.
