We did a full day tour of Phnom Kulen and it was a great experience. (Me, Wife, 9 & 4 year old children) Our guide and driver were right on time and the van was clean and in great shape.
During the drive, our guide, Saro, told us what to expect and then kept us engaged with stories of his life, Cambodia, and the region. We had easy to talk to and very friendly.
Our first stop was at his Mother’s house where we met some of his family and shared some jackfruit. It was a great way to get a unique perspective on normal Cambodia life.
We then went to Phnom Kulen and toured the Reclining Buddha, 1000 Ligas, and played in the waterfall. We also had a good lunch.
The whole tour was well planned, executed, and led by a great guide and driver.
I would highly recommend this for anyone interested.

The tour started with a visit to a wildlife conservation center, where we had a very interesting tour. Then we went to the mountain where we saw the buddha and had a swim in the waterfall. All the sites was amazingly beautiful and there was not too many tourists.
Our guide, Saro was exceptional, helpful and very knowledgeable. Being from the area we visited he knew a lot about both the places we visited and was happy to tell about life in Cambodia.
I can not recommend the tour and Saro enough.

We travelled here with a guide. The journey from Siam Reap is approximately 40 minutes by van, quite a winding road up to the waterfall. The large Buddha was lovely to see and you can swim at the waterfall. The history of the tallinger etc is good. You can buy souvenirs s from the vendors. An enjoyable day.

What is the amazing waterfall in my Siem Reap Trip. Kulen is the start of Angkor Empire period. It's not just beautiful nature and waterfall but full of history that brought your soul moving back to that time. The tour guide is the local which is make you feel real people there not just tourist plus shearing with you about the life there, not just the tour guide, totally beautiful experience. If you are nature and waterfall traveler and you want to experience the real waterfall I highly recommend you to go with this tour company. It's more than the tour.!!

Kulen mountain didn’t seem very far from downtown Siem Reap, but it sure took longer than I expected. The mountain road was rather narrow and steep and going was slow. I saw only cars and motorbikes and realised that it would be impossible to drive a tuktuk up the hill. The going rate for a taxi was US$60. It took us 7 hours to get there, see everything leisurely and then return to our hotel. The downside was the heat. It was still very hot on the mountain. We started with the archeological site along the stream. According to Hindu mythology, that was the beginning of the world. The squares in the riverbed representing the Yoni and the circle in the square, Shiva’s male organ. The running water, Shiva’s sperms. After walking along the river, we drove to the next site. There is a big reclining Buddha at the top of the mountain. There are many steps to climb but it is not impossible to do it, if you take your time. I did it but my 85 year old hubby, didn’t want to do it, so he sat and waited for us to return. Next, we drove to the waterfalls. We had to walk quite a distance to get there. Unfortunately, it was dry season so the falls were not that spectacular as they would be during the rainy season. All in all, I had a great time despite all the climbing and walking. A walking stick will be a great help here if you have problems walking.

This is a great day trip out of Siem Reap. Phnom Kulen is a beautiful area with lots of fascinating history. Our guide was local, spoke very good English and we learnt a lot of interesting things about Phnom Kulen and also about Cambodian life and culture.
On the way there we stopped for some banana in sticky rice from a street vendor, which was really tasty.
A swim at the waterfalls was a great way to end the day before heading back to Siem Reap.
We'd definitely recommend this tour. The best bit is that you know that you're supporting a not-for-profit that helps the community and the environment.

If you are looking to visit Phnom Kulen and make a difference in the community (both people, nature, and wildlife) this is the tour for you. They use local guides, visit non-profits, and use profits to support them, making the organizations sustainable. It is truly a high impact tour.
In terms of the tour itself. We were pick up at our hotel and then made the journey to Angkor Centre for the Conservation of Biodiversity. You take a short tour with a local staff member to see some of the wildlife they have rescued and are rehabilitating. Then, you make the trek to Phnom Kulen. You go to the ancient pagoda and see a reclining Buddha. Afterward, the relaxing part. We had lunch i at a restaurant and took time to swim and hang a bit. The guide swam with us which I thought was great...everybody had a refreshing time. We then left and got to Siem Reap city around 4:30pm.
All in all a great day out and about. I felt it was pretty good value as well considering the distance and the fact they are helping NGOs.
