This museum used to be the city hall but has now been transformed to house the impressive collection of famed Colombian/Italian artist, the great Fernando Botero. He was born in Medellin and has donated 100+ paintings to the museum. The plaza it sits in is also named after him, Plaza Botero, with its 23 chubby, rubenesque statues scattered throughout.
You should start at the top floor with Botero’s earliest works and move down to see how his work has developed. There are also international artists here too who provide a vast array of complementary works in this gallery.
Audio guide is available, so too a small café whose coffee you can enjoy in the courtyard.

Worth the visit! Plan on 90 minutes. Spend most of your time in the Botero wing on the third floor.
Lots of good contemporary art (not the crazy stuff).
Make sure to check out all the Botero sculptures in the square, but be mindful of safety. Wallets in front and phones firmly gripped.

It is definitely a beautiful museum, starting with the architecture and views of the main square of the city as well as the splendid curation. The stories told by the museum, from the entire floor dedicated to Botero as well as the extensive display of Colombian and international art make this a must-see. It is one of the Top-rated museums you have ever been to in the whole world and has nothing to envy to others of its kind in Europe or the United States.

Excellent display from Master Botero. Highly recommended for art lovers. There are works by Colombian, Latin American and European artists.

Outstanding museum, manageable size in one visit. Loved the Boteros and collection of Colombian art. Nice cafe and shop onsite. Architecturally very interesting too as former municipal building.

I had already come 4 years ago and the experience has always been wonderful.
A place full of our history told through art.
Taking photos there will always be a great plan.
Ask to have a coffee inside the Museum and read.
On the way out I was able to visit the Museum Store! 😊

It is a museum with a wide range of works, both sculptures, paintings and sketches by very renowned artists. On the third floor you can find works by Fernando Botero that complement the sculptures in Botero Park that are just outside the museum. It also has temporary exhibitions. and places to rest, eat, have a drink or buy souvenirs.

Go directly to the third floor where you will find numerous works donated by Botero and his family to his city. We coincided with groups of students and benefited from the explanations of their excellent teachers. An exceptional Botero's exhibit.
You can avoid the other two floors: full of "woke" culture and historical and cultural interpretations of the most radical left, more ideology than art. Giving 3 "Avarage" is a lot for those rooms but with Botero's exhibit only, I would give a 5.
Vaya directo al tercer piso donde encontrara numerosas obras donadas por Botero y familia al su ciudad. Alli coincidimod con grupos de estudiantes y nos beneficiamos de las explicaciones de sus excelentes profesores. Un piso excepcional.
Los otros dos pisos te los puedes evitar: lleno de cultura "woke" e interpretaciones historicas y culturales de la izquierda mas radical, mas ideologia que arte. Darle 3 "Avarage " es mucho para esas salas pero con Botero solo les daria 5.

Hola , que rico que visiten Medellin,hay tanto por ver y disfrutar del clima, su gente, y paisaje; en cuanto la pregunta si tiene costo de $12.000 nacionales y $ $18.000 extranjeros, si tienen extraño 1 al 3 baja sustancialmente la tarifa , y la taquilla es a la entrada, disfruten todo, es bello el museo
