I did my Padi Open Water with Alejandro Archbold. He is a great teacher and as a total beginner I always felt safe with him. Also his girlfriend Laura is very professional and kind and takes beautiful underwater pictures.
I can highly recommend the Dive Shop Old Providence!

Gerardo or Sonny - a name he inherited from his father - is a great instructor, patient and with more than 25 years of experience. If you want to learn, they are the best option on the island!

Terrible dive Center! I have used quite a few dive centres in different countries but this place scared me. When I arrived on the first day they didn't even say hello or explain what was happening with the dives. At first I gave them the benefit of doubt because they may be busy. But then a few events happened during the dives that I found really inappropriate and even dangerous. One of my friends was doing the PADI advanced (he wasn't very experienced and hadn't done many dives since his open water), and he ends up with 30bar at 30meters because he didn't check his gauge frequently enough and more importantly the instructor didn't ask how much air he had left. He didn't expect to consume that much because he wasn't told that the deeper you go the more air you consume.
On another dive we were ten divers with 2 dive masters, two of were doing their first ever dive and didn't get the help they needed to, they were going up and one even nearly got to the surface (it was a shallow dive at 9 meters but still...) Me and another advanced diver caught the girls going up because they didn't manage to release air from their BCD. The dive instructors were too busy taking photos of them for instagram.
I will leave it at that but I could say more. I am sorry for leaving such a bad review but I feel I would have liked to know this before coming, that's why I am sharing.
At least the dives places were super nice. Providencia is really a paradise for diving!

Orinally we, two couples, were going to stay at the hotel, but our reservations were canceled for "environmental" resons. We made resevations elsewhere, but were promised trans portation to the dive shop. The manager of the dive shop said he would meet with us at our hotel to discuss transportation and our 5 days of scheduled diving. He did not show. When we arrived at the dive shop there was no registration, just a c card check. It was very hot and the dive shop had no water. Just on the boats.They also did not have enough weights and gave us less than we asked for. The condition of the dive shop was in disrepair with rocks, broken concrete and inadequate steps. After a 20 minute ride to the dive site the divemaster realized he left his equipment at the shop and we had to return. Registration did not take place until after diving was completed.

Wir waren am 26.02.20 mit Sonny tauchen. Ausrüstung war gut, die Betreuung und das Briefing vorab ebenso, die Jungs sind sehr freundlich. Zwei Tauchgänge mit Equipment kosten 210.000 Pesos. Die Jungs waren sogar so nett und haben alles auf das Boot gebracht! Wir waren am Sonnys Place und haben einige Reef Sharks gesehen, sonst gab es dort aber nicht so viel. Zweiter Tauchgang war am Manta Point, hier gab es einige Sting Rays, einen Barracuda, Trompetenfische und viele kleine Fische. Auch das Riff war hier schöner. Zwischendurch gab es Kaffee und Kekse for free.
Wir haben uns für Sonny entschieden nachdem der Empfang bei Felipe recht unfreundlich war.

Recomendo bastante, além dos equipamentos serem bons e novos, a equipe é muito divertida. E o mais importante, mergulhos seguros e sem iscas para tubarões. Conseguimos ver tubarões mesmo sem iscas, foi ótimo!

En mi caso era mi primer contacto con el buceo vale aclarar que tenía todos los nervios y ansiedades, primero me mostraron un video donde cualquier cosa mala era una fatalidad... mas miedo y más ansiedad, luego llego el instructor, apenas lo vi supuse que no iba a pasar las pruebas, nada que ver, todas las pruebas las hice de una y a mi pareja que no le salía le tomo toda la paciencia para explicarle de las mil formas para que pudiera pasarlo. Esto me dio mucha tranquilidad para la actividad que estábamos por realizar.
Una vez en el agua, tuvimos la mejor experiencia el instructor siempre estuvo atento a todos nuestras inquietudes, nos mostró todo el arrecife de coral y su fauna.
En fin una experiencia llena de adrenalina que no me la olvidaré en mi vida!!
Lo negativo fue que el instructor olvidó la cámara en el bote y no tomó fotos de nuestra inmersión :(
Una vez en el agua, tuvimos la mejor experiencia el instructor siempre estuvo atento a todos nuestras inquietudes, nos mostró todo el arrecife de coral y su fauna.
En fin una experiencia llena de adrenalina que no me la olvidaré en mi vida!!

Bucear con Sony fue un espectáculo, son responsables, se interactúa con la naturaleza de manera responsable. Muchos tiburones, muy curiosos, al igual que morenas, ambos muy curiosos y se acercan a uno, por eso es importante bucear con mucha tranquilidad.
Bien por Gerardo y sus instructores, mucha ética y responsabilidad!!!

Muy bueno, muy responsables, muy organizados, buenos instructores que dividen el grupo de acuerdo a la experiencia de los buzos y esto es bueno para que no hayan un grupo tan grande en un solo lugar que espanten los peces y que todos se sientan a gusto.
El buceo se ven muchas especies, los tiburones nadan bastante cerca, se recomienda no molestarlos ni hace movimientos bruscos, ya que en otras parte en los cuales he buceado los he visto muy indiferentes, pero estos en particular me parecieron bastante activos y curiosos.
Volvería sin duda nuevamentente a bucear con Sonny.

hi i will be there for 3 weeks in january looking for a dive package for at least 10 two tank dives or more ? have my own gear .what do you thank the weather will be like ? i know its the beginning of the rain season ,i was there a few years ago in December ,not so good ,thanks

i have read your website with much interest. We are two friends visiting Providencia. One of the highlights and final stop before returning to UK. We would really love to explore the reefs on the island and are experienced snorkellers. We would like to rent snorkelling equipment. Is this a service you provide. If so what is the cost please?
