Absolutely amazing 4-day trek thanks to the agency Expotur and the wonderful accompaniments, our Macario Guide and our translator Danilo.
The trek of the Ciudad is incredible, we cross fabulous landscapes before reaching the peak of the site of the lost city on the 3rd day. A real human adventure.
I really thank Macario for all his exciting information, his great kindness and his many attentions. Just like Danilo.
Having seen the other groups, I think I made the best choice for this memorable expedition I dreamed of making. So I highly recommend expotur!!! And if you have Macario and Danilo, it will be perfect. Thanks again. AGUADIENTES!!!!

It is so Difficult to write this, because such a Sacred Place should Not be Tinted by Tour Companies that Do Not Respect Safety and Health of Travelers. Tour Companies promised 1.5liters of Safe Drinkable water, however from the night I arrived I had to buy 2 bottle of water at 200% more than normal price. On our third night, there was Food Poisoning happening, lots of travelers running to vomit to Toilets. No medicine, no Quick action taking from Guides, no Support. All the sick people had to walk back 5 hours while "vomiting on the side of the trail" and crying for not having the necessary strength to do it. No this is Not Normal and such a Tragic event Should not be hidden, this Incident could have been avoided if Safe measures could have been taken. The Tour companies took no responsibility and blame the ones in charge in the camp, which is an "easy exit" for a "solution". As a Nomadic Solo world Traveler, was my first time experiencing such a tragic story, from 60 people at least 10 or more got sick, and no support was shown. On the contrary, they charged 13$usd for a 5minute bike ride to the sick. Guardians of the Earth, please take care of this matter.

Had the most unforgettable time on the lost city trek with expotur. Our incredible guide, Macario, translator Dani and cook Jesus, went over and above to make our experience so excellent. We had a fantastic group, laughed a lot, enjoyed the views, waterfalls, swims, 'happy hour', 'Colombian flat'. The camps were comfortable, the food was great, Macario and Dani were super knowledgeable and we had a very touching experience understanding the history of the area and the culture of the indigenous people. I miss it already!

Incredible experience especially thanks to the guides who accompanied us. Many thanks to Macario, Danilo and Jesus for their investment. It was an unforgettable trek filled with adventures and emotions, indescribable sensation when you arrive at the lost city.

Great trek with expotur agency !
Our guide was very familiar with the indigen culture and very helpful all along the way.
Our translator was very funny and smiling which was very appreciated.
Our cook made great meals each day to be in the best shape on this challenge.
Thanks team Jaguares A with Jhoan, Isy and Pollo !

We went with my husband and children aged 13 and 15, the unforgettable experience. After being walking in a lush and wonderful nature the Award is priceless, arriving in the Lost City. The fantastic guides were always attentive to the needs of the group and in the days of the excursion a small family was created. We loved it! Denis, Ferney, Dylan and Mr. Chef....fantastic!!

I had a great trip to the Lost City with Expotur. Our group Aguardiente was a lot of fun and we loved our guide Eucario, translator Danny and cook Jesus. Everything was very smooth, the camps were good, we loved our food and our guide was very knowledgable. Overall, a great experience!

My family did the lost city trek in July 2024. The city itself is impressive, more so than photos would suggest, and there is a satisfaction in visiting a site that you have to walk to. However, I share the concerns raised by one and two star reviews.
1. Hygiene. There was no soap provided at all in the camps, and through the days people were eating off the same plates of fruit and popcorn. The toilets were disgusting. Dirty, no seats or broken seats, often didn’t lock, often had no light. It is hardly surprising that people got diarrhoea. With what trekkers are paying, some basic maintenance on the toilets and showers is well overdue.
2. Camps. Camps were really pretty uncomfortable. As others have said, the bedding is not clean. I found a used Band-Aid in my bed.
3. Track. The track is in terrible condition. In many places you are walking up and down a muddy canyon. What impact does this have on the communities in the park, who need to use this track to get to school, to go about their daily lives? It seemed to us that something is seriously amiss with the management of the trek.
4. Benefit to the indigenous communities. The tour companies make a point of saying that they work in partnership with the communities. However, we were told by our guide that the indigenous communities can’t control the track management, because they don’t own or run the camps. As others have noted, the indigenous people passed on the track do not at all look happy to see foreigners there. We were told the indigenous communities remain very poor. I have not done enough research to understand how much the indigenous communities are really bought into the whole track system, and how much they benefit from it, but I left with strong reservations. At the very least, I regret that we didn’t go with an indigenous owned and run tour company.

I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to have encountered Expotur and being able to experience the most unforgettable tour in a amazing place. I am not going to lie. It has been very challenging but the guide Jose has been able to make it manageable taking breaks, chatting through the path and making funny jokes. He was able to make everything lighter. Was able to scan the group and act accordingly.
Carlos the translator has been also a great support. Not just for making everything clearer for the not Spanish speaker but for being very resourceful, full of own initiative supporting the group.
At the end of each path, Ismael delighted us with yummy food, always available and kind to offer me coffee.,. We are friends for life…
We visited the sierra and Jose and Carlos have taught us how to be more careful and respectful of the local communities. During the trip we had encountered different members of the indigenous villages and we had learned more about them. Expotur through the expeditions support the locals offering them a percentage of the tickets price.

Carlos the translator has been also a great support. Not just for making everything clearer for the not Spanish speaker but for being very resourceful, full of own initiative supporting the group.

Hi anyone. I am in Santa Marta at the moment. Only staying for to days to come. I inquired about a helicopter tour to Ciudad Perdida but it costs 12.000.000 COP. Suposd you get it down to 10 mln it still is €2500 or US 2750.
But maybe, just maybe there are people around this coming days who would like to share. I am willing to pay 2 mln.

I didn’t hear about any helicopter tours going to Ciudad perdida, only rescue and military helicopters are going there and frankly I would NEVER do it, you will loose / miss the essence of discovering it if going by helicopter, and by foot is soooo much more interesting and the reward afterwards is way better!!! On the side you also discover the jungle, not only Teyuna ( ciudad perdida) which would be a liitle bit shameful and disrecpectful towards the indigenous tribes, the jungle.... if you go by helicopter. Honestly I also think you don’t deserve to see it if you don’t walk to it 😉
Plus, you would spoil the view, with that helicopter standing on one of the terraces that you would wanna take pics of and probably, quite certain you would spoil the calm and rest of the other visitors who went there by foot and enjoying it!!!

Hola, Mira son alrededor de 500 USD por persona, los precios son muy homogeneos entre una agencia de turismo y otra, va a depender de en cuantos dias quieras hacer la excursion, pero en promedio mas o menos es eso.
Ya que estas en Santa Marta te recomiendo ir al parque Tairona, sus playas son muy bellas.

Hola Stefania, el terreno es muy duro, hay lugares donde debes pasar rios agarrado a una cuerda, el agua, dependiendo el caudal del rio, te puede dar a la cintura, puede ser algo arriesgado para un niño de nueve años, tambien son caminatas muy largas que requieren una buena condicion fisica, yo no te lo recomiendo.
