An easy walking trail along the lava lined coast with sea lions, marine iguanas, and the rarer yellow land iguana.

Hier gibt es jede Menge Meerechsen zu sehen. Außerdem gibt es die feuerroten Klippenkrabben, Seelöwen und Bussarde. Der Spaziereeg am Ufer ist zwar ein bisschen unwegsam, aber trotzdem leicht zu bewältigen.

This was our first stop on the Celebrity Xpedition inner loop cruise. It will be your first great view of sea lions, various birds, and sea life. Once you cross the trail to the opposite side keep your camera ready. Be especially prepared when you come to a sort of blow hole. It is fraught with all kinds of wildlife. You will need a good safari hat and plenty of sunblock. Remember, you're right on the equator and it doesn't take much to burn. You'll notice the locals keep almost all of the skin protected/covered.

Puerto Egas was the location of the old salt mines, now long closed, though you'll see remains of the workers' houses. This is a wet landing by Zodiac boat onto a black lava sand beach. Take a change of shoes if you wish to do the walk (I recommend that you do). Training shoes will be OK.
There is a marked loop path from the end of the beach, after the first 100' mostly flat and easy. You'll see lots of birds, including the Galápagos dove (blue ring around eyes). As you near the beach, there are many red crabs (see my photographs). If you are lucky, you'll also see sea lions on the rocks (again, see my photos).
You can snorkel off the beach, and expect to see 000s of fish quite close to the back. We also saw a reef shark pass by.

The nature guides from"the Letty" , a yacht operated by Ecoventura, took us on an excursion to Puerto Egas on Santiago Island. We strolled along the shoreline where we saw great blue herons, lava herons, American Oyster Catchers, finches, sea lions, Sally Lightfoot Crabs and iguanas. Like many places in the Galapagos Islands we got many creatures in one photo (ie)pelicans, sea lions and Sally Lightfoot Crabs all hanging out together. At one point we came across some kind of raptor perched beside a sea lion pup pecking away at it every now and then. The poor little pup's mother was no where in sight. We also got in our best snorkelling here. We got to swim with many sea turtles and sea lions, a couple of which swam up to us rolling over and blowing bubbles swimming on one side of us and then on the other and above and below as well. They were very playful. This was a great visit.
