Altra moschea visitata ad Ahmedabad è stata la Jama Masjid con un bellissimo cortile grande e tranquillo. La struttura è stata costruita con elementi di templi hindu e templi jainisti. Nella sala di preghiera ci sono 260 colonne che sostengono 15 cupole. Si entra lasciando fuori le scarpe mentre nella sala di preghiera le donne non possono entrare.

Located in the hustle bustle of the Old City, this mosque is iconic heritage and medieval structure built during Sultanate Period and is the basis of all future mosques constructed in and around Ahmedabad.
Has a huge courtyard and peaceful unlike the market outside. It is an active mosque so visitors need to be careful about the attire and need to remove shoes outside.
A must in the tour itinerary while exploring old Ahmedabad.
No restrictions on photography except during prayer timings.

Jami masjid is famous and is located in main market of Ahmedabad. The place is used for prayer hence one need to remove footwear while entering inside. Until that time one cannot see what lies inside but once you enter inside you can witness the marvellous structure.
The pillar at entrance are huge and has some detsoked carvings on it. The courtyard is huge from where you can do photography.
Take auto to reach here as there is no parking space for cars. As the location is in market hence the area is congested.

Jami Masjid is located in old Ahmedabad & is a must - visit, specially if you're on a heritage tour of the old city. A short flight of stairs leads to the Masjid gate where you remove your footwear. The entry is free.
Once inside, we were surprised with the open courtyard which seemed improbable from the road. An ablution pond exists in the center & the periphery is lined with a shaded colonnade for prayers.
The main structure has exquisite pillars with carvings worth seeing. We didn't enter the main building but had a round of photography in front of it.

This is very close to the main attractions of Old Ahmedabad including the Teen Darwaja, Manek Chowk. There was no entrance charge, but you must leave your shoes at the door. Once inside you have a sense of open space in stark contrast to the lively streets outside. There is a central pool and an adjacent prayer hall with myriad pillars which create beautiful shadow patterns as the sun moves across the sky above the open courtyard beyond. be aware that photos within this prayer space are forbidden.

Via de achteringang naar binnen gegaan en een groot plein gaf ons even de rust na een wandeling door de drukke stad.
Jammer dat we binnen geen foto’s mochten maken omdat de architectuur ons daar aansprak.

Jami Masjid is a major mosque in Ahmedabad built in the early 15th century in the reign of Ahmed Shah of the Muzaffarid dynasty. The mosque has a standard rectangular plan, but unusually does not have the standard minarets., which were destroyed 1819 earthquake and never rebuilt. The most interesting features of the mosque are the ring of colonnades around the open courtyard and the level of details on the columns which are decorated with calligraphy instead of the more usual floral and geometric patterns. The number of columns also extends to the main prayer area which is just saturated with columns, but they do make a pretty sight.

We participated in one of the walking Heritage tours in the early morning, and the mosque is the climax of the tour. There are certainly bigger and more impressive mosques in India, but this is the biggest and best in this area. We were hot and hungry by the time we reached this mosque, and it was still worth the time to look around and to talk with the people inside the courtyard. Gratefully, we came on a day without many people so the experience was probably less hassled than some have experienced. It was not easy to get an Uber out of this area, so we opted for an auto-rickshaw instead.

Of course it is open to all as are most mosques in India in my experience! I am not sure what the opening hours are but I am sure you can look it up on Google.
