A peaceful Hindu Temple of the sacred Bull

Peaceful and Tranquility are the two words that comes to my mind when I think of this place. This temple is able to maintain that status despite being in the bustling of the crowded traditional market place called Gandhi Bazaar in South Bangalore. If we closely watch the address of this temple you can see the location name as "Basavana Gudi", which literally translates to "Bull's Temple". Yes, this entire location in the busiest south Bangalore is named after this temple, and that is how important is this place for Bangaloreans. This temple is still able to maintain the old charm and peacefulness amidst staying close to the busy main road. It has a long history, you can find it in Google. If you are in Bangalore, pls visit this place if you are a temple lover.

It's good to visit the place, there is a big nandhi statue with 50 steps climbing that needs to be done. Hardly 18 kms from Mara

Temple of Nandi Ji

This temple is of Nandi ji, who is worshipped alongwith Lord Shiva. The diety statue is very large. Further, the aura and energy in the temple is amazing. One has to climb 10 to 15 stairs to get to the temple. Worth visiting.

Interesting story

It's a rather small temple centred around a big bull and an interesting story behind it. It is also surrounded by the peaceful Bugle Park. Definitely one to visit for first-timers, but I am not sure if I would make my way all the way here again just for this.

Wrong open time mentioned in Tripadvisor. 7:30am is correct open time. Good experience overall.

Official open timing is 7:30am. We had to wait for an hour because doors opened at 7:30 and not 6:30am as mentioned in here.

I'm not quite sure why this place is on so many tourism itineraries. I've seen a lot of old temples in India, and this one doesn't rank. If you are a believer and follow Nandi in some special way, then it would be definitely a place to go. If not, skip it.

Big Bull temple (Nandhi temple) - One of the oldest temple in Bengaluru

On 13th Mar'22, myself with my parents, son & bro (Arvinth) got to visit Big Bull temple located at Basavanagudi, Bengaluru.

Big Bull temple is also known as Nandi temple, is one of the oldest temple in Bengaluru. It is the biggest temple dedicated to Nandi in the world. Nandi is the vahana / guardian deity for Lord Shiva. So, this temple is a must visit destination for Lord Shiva devotees.

Got to have great dharshan at the temple, blessed visit.

Most ideal place to visit with family and friends.The Bull Temple in Bangalore, also known as Nandi Temple, is famous for its large statue of the sacred bull, Nandi. In fact, with a height of around 4.6 metres and a length of about 6.1 metres, the idol of Nandi in this temple is said to be one of the biggest in the world. This unique feature attracts many devotees and tourists to the place.

Nandi Temple

Bull temple is also referred to as a Nandi temple. Temple is situated in basawanagudi area.

Idol of Nandi is carved out of a black granite, and it is believed that this is the oldest and biggest idol of Nandi anywhere in the world.

This temple is near to doda Ganesha temple. However cleanliness is lacking in surrounding area.
