It's quite a good Siva temple on top of a hill. The surrounding area is beautiful and there is an ashram housed inside the area

This temple is on the top of Omkar Hills. You can visit Dwadasha Jothirlinga, from view from the top is excellent. You can go with your family and spent few hours in the evening there. Off kanakpura road, not a very long drive from the city.

Hidden gem! For how long we don't know!

Temple is very nice and so is the virw from top of the hill which gives excellent view of the turahalli forest( if I am correct)

Must visit at least once. Recommended to multiple friends and everyone has liked this place. Only downside is no food available and some work is still going on.

Calm and peaceful temple having 12 different Shiva Lingas. One pradakshina will make you to go around 13000 Shiva Lingas in total as they've been immersed in the ground of the temple.
There is a matsanaarayana temple also in the premises and is very calm.

We were near Rajarajeshwari temple and just found out about this place. It is close by and is a very nice place to visit.

The views from the outside of the temple are beautiful. I'm sure sunrise and sunset would be wonderful. The whole skyline of Bangalore is visible from this place. Talking about the temple, it is not crowded and the atmosphere is very peaceful. It is mentioned there that there are smaller lingas over the main lingas. There is a temple right above which is above and this really impressed me because there are mentions of every major religion with idols wherever possible.

Parking fee for 4 wheelers is Rs.10 and shoe stall charges Rs.2 per pair of sandals/shoes.

The main roads are not that great due to Metro work, but inner roads were managable. Definitely recommended if you are nearby this place.

Famous for 'Dwadash Jyotrirlinga' (12 shiva lingas), this short trip temple outside the city was a pleasant experience. It's a bit steep hillock (seems like one of the highest points around the area), so may have a slow climb depending on where you find parking, but inside is a vast, serene temple that's a treat.

Omkareshwara temple is on top of the Omkar hills. It is easily accessible - you can drive up the hill or choose to walk. The temple is beautiful and hosts 12 representatives of the original Jyotirlingas spread across various states of India, Vanadurga and Matsya Narayana temples. Omkareshwara is the main deity. This temple was built with the intention of providing every devotee an opportunity of Jyotirlinga darshana at one location.

Do visit while in Bangalore.

His Holiness Tiruchiswamiji was the architect and built temple for Goddess Rajarajeswari in Mysore Road Bangalore, which has now become an internationally important tourist-cum-religious attraction. I was one of his disciples. Shivapuriswami was his favourite disciple and Manager of the temple construction and other works related to Kailasa Ashram of Tiruchiswamiji during 1970-80s. I was then an advocate involved in journalism being the editor of monthly news paper ‘Balijavani’ and joint secretary of Balijasangha.
I was entrusted with certain legal problem related to land of Ashram, which I did successfully and peacefully with the assistance of my friend Mudalagiri, cousin of famous cine star Vajramuni. Infact I had acted with Vajramuni in Kannada plays “Akasmika” and others in 1960s. Swamiji was very much pleased with my humble service. Thus then manager Shivapuriswami became my friend.
It was that Shivapuriswami who was responsible for installing the big watch on the top of Omkarhill during 1990s. He built many memorable monuments that stand for several centuries to come. The most important is Omkareshwar temple, accompanied by Jyothirlingas. The original Omkareshwar temple is ‘an Island’ in the midst of river Narmada in Madhya Pradesh. Matsyanarayana and Shanmukha Temple are shrines that remain in viewers’ memory for a long time.
The structure of Dwadasha Jyothirlinga temple is in Northern style standing tall on Omkarhill in Bangalore. The Omkar Ashram of Shivapuriswami is located here since its establishment in 1992.
Omkareshwar Temple or Dwadasha (12) Jyotirlinga Temple Gopuram is unique and beautiful. Its Gopuram is in Orissa style of North Indian architecture painted in white colour shines with golden mukuta (Crown). Each has such gopura. However an exception is that of the Gopuras of Sri Shaila Mallikarjuna and Sri Rameshwar Jyothirlingas which are in South India as such they have Southern style of Gopuras. Hence the devotees are very much delighted to find harmonious way of South and North Indian Sculptures. The Gopuram of Omkareshwar, the main Jyothirlinga, may be 100’ from ground level and is the highest among all other Gopuras.
We will have an opportunity to have darshan of twelve Jyothirlingas in one complex. The companion gods and goddesses namely Vidyaganapathi, Subrahmanya, Kalabhairava, Chandikeshwara, Ekadasha (eleven) Rudras, Panchaloha Nataraja (1000 Kgs) and Mother Goddess Shakti (Sri Yantra) are beautiful to view.
The twelve Jyothirlingas are Rameswaram, Mallikarjuna, Tryambakeshwar, Viswanath, Kedarnath, Somanatha, Mahakaleswar, Omkareshwar, Grishneswar, Nageshwar, Bhimashankara and Vaidyanatha.
In this complex of holy shrines Omkareshwara Jyotirlinga is about 6’ height, occupying the pivotal spot is made of Spatika Shree Yantra, is found at the centre of the temple, surrounded by other eleven accompanying Jyothirlingas. Omkareshwar is the Main Jyothirlinga in this group. These idols are made of Stones found in River Narmada. There are many mini Lingas nicely arranged around 12 Jyothirlingas, Saligramas, Rare Herbs, precious Stones (Navarathna) etc to give divine feast to our eyes.
Lord Matsyanarayana Temple, as built in Omkara Ashrama, is the only temple of its kind in Karnataka. It represents Matsya Avatar, the first out of ten, incarnations of Lord Vishnu to save Vedas from a demon, in the form of Fish. ‘Matsya’ means ‘fish’. There is a big banyan tree under which there are icons of religious leaders. The Statues of Gautam Buddha, Ramanujacharya, Mahaveera, Jesus, Guru Granth Sahib and others are beautifully and attractively painted. This part of the hill is named as "Sarva Dharma Samanvaya Peeta" which expression exposes the motive of Omkar Ashram to promote religious harmony in the society at large.
Omkar Hill is on Kengeri Uttarahalli Main Road at 2km off Mysore Road and close to JSS institute of Technology.
