The dam is huge, with very beautiful view points. The boating area is relatively less crowded and you have three options: speed boat, shared boat and coracle ride. In the winter there was a very well maintained pathway with flowers

Visited the Anayarankal dam reservoir from Chinnakanal. Roads are very bad.
The reservoir area itself is very picturesque. Not many tourists around. There is a restaurant and can do boating. A speed boat trip costs about Rs 1200 for about 15 minutes.

Anayirankal which is located 22 km from Munnar is a noted hill station of Kerala. Located in the midst of a verdant carpet of tea plantations, it is an ideal picnic spot for travellers from around the world. The Anayirankal dam is flanked by the Tata Tea plantation and a thick cover of evergreen forests. A boat ride on the splendid reservoir is an unforgettable experience that no visitor should miss.

We visited Anayirangkal on a summer morning when there were hardly any tourists around. You can take a canoe to the lake all by yourself and enjoy the breathtaking valley view around.

Excellent place. Very picturesque and very well maintained. There is an entry fee (for vehicle as well) and boating is chargeable. Different categories of boats are available to choose from - speed, family, row, basket.
Food outlet inside is decent.You can order from the menu. It does struggle on delivery timing if a larger group arrives together. Taste is good though including that of the ice creams
Washroom is decently maintained but there is scope for slight improvement there. Need for them to ensure that a soap is kept on the wash basin always.
We visited on a bright day and the pics same out really awesome.Since we were staying at Chinakanal, it was very close for us. On our way back, spotted a great waterfall as well. It was indeed worth a visit.
Note, road connecting Munnar and Chinakanal is under repairs. Google maps does not capture this. Surprising but unfortunate! A regular 22 kms ride actually become 55+ kms because of the detour. Roads are really bumpy at some places. So factor in a few extra hours incase you plan to come down from near Munnar.

What is the current position of anayirankal dam? enought water? can we expect boating?

Due to a good monsoon there should be enough waters. Have read that there are speed boats there and also that the forest dept is discouraging it as it frightens the wild elephants when boats go near them.

I don't think so. If there is no permission required on other days, I can't imagine why they would insist on Oct 2 alone.
