The Viswanath Temple is a temple dedicated to Shiva and is one of the more elaborately decorated of the temples in the archaeological complex. The roof of the temple is especially ornate with multiple spires and of course the usual array of mithuna reliefs like the many of the temples in the complex.

Dieser Tempel, der vom König Dhanga in Auftrag gegeben wurde, wurde wohl um das Jahr 1002 fertig gestellt. Zu diesem Tempel, der dem Gott Shiva geweiht war, gehören der Nandi und der Parvati Schrein. Der Tempel liegt auf einer etwa 2 m hohen Plattform und bildet mit ehemals vier weiteren Tempeln einen eigenen Komplex. Die Gesamtanlage ist fast spiegelsymetrisch. Auch dieser Tempel ist mit sehr schönen Skulpturen verziert. Diese zeigen Götter, leicht bekleidete Mädchen und auch erotische Darstellungen.

Deze tempel zal ongeveer de laatste tempel zijn die we in het westelijk complex gezien hebben.Je kunt het haast niet meer bijhouden wat voor een schoonheden al deze tempels bieden.gewoon prachtig.

The Vishwanath Temple ("Vishwanath" means "Lord of the Universe" and is one of the attributes of Shiva) belongs to the most precious group of Hindu temples in Khajuraho, those within the Western enclosure.
Its construction is dated around 1000 AD; therefore it's intermediate compared to that of the two most illustrious temples in the enclosure, the Lakshmana (before 954) and the Kandariya-Mahadev (after 1025). On the other hand, due to the 'architectural articulation and the richness and quality of his sculptures, the Vishwanath is situated only a step below them.
It was originally surrounded by four minor shrines, of which only two survive.
The sculptures of the temple present, at the highest stylistic levels, motifs similar to those visible in the other most famous temples in Khajuraho: deities, mythical animals, surasundari (celestial ladies) engaged in different activities: they dance, play musical instruments, cradle babies, or they simply show themselves in sensual attitudes: a feast for the eyes!
Then there are the erotic scenes (maithuna) typical of the Khajuraho site, which see two or more subjects as protagonists.
In conclusion, the careful visit of this temple is a worthy completion of the whole visit in Khajuraho, and in particular to its most illustrious group of temples.

Estupendo templo en el conjunto oeste de templos de Khajuraho. En su exterior cuenta con infinidad de esculturas eróticas.

The Viswanath Temple is the tallest and largest of the lot in the western complex. The temple is beautiful and grand and it would take about a couple of hours to decipher all the inscriptions and sculptures across the body of the temple both in and out. We solemnly loved the sight and grandeur of the mighty temple.

The Viswanath Temple is another temple in the Western Group of Temple complex. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and at one time had four subsidiary temples, out of which only the one dedicated to Nandi -The Bull
Survive. It is an excellent piece of architecture and is on the same plan as the other temples. Since there is a single ticket to enter the complex, you can visit all the temples with the same one

カンダーリア マハーデーヴァ寺院やラクシュマナ寺院より小さいけど、面白さが一番ぎゅっと詰まった、見応えのある寺院だと思います。
外壁はカジュラホ特有の彫刻群で囲まれ、戦象など細かい装飾も見応えあり。
加えて内部にはリンガとヨニが祭られてます。
保存状態もいいほうです。
