It's an amazing temple 1500 years approx. We were lucky to meet 5 jain monks. The temple is a great place of solace and history .

Carving and sculpture is like western group of temples. Buddha statue inside on every temples. You can take out shoes, shocks, leather stuff to go inside. Main jain temple are using for worship. People seat there and do bhajan.

in eastern group of temple, small but with sclpture, only if you have time you can visit. it will take 10 minites to see.

The Shantinath Temple has been renovated and is extremely clean. It has several idols of Jain Tiranthakaras. Photography is allowed. Well worth a visit. You need to take off your shoes and leave leather belongings behind before you enter

El día anterior habíamos visitado los Templos Blancos Jainistas en Sonagiri, quizás por ello no nos sorprendió este templo y su vecino, pintados en amarillo, aunque a la entrada al complejo hay un museo de objetos jainistas y un edificio para alojar a los peregrinos por una o dos noches. Normalito. Además el acoso de los vendedores ambulantes en la entrada fue de los más tediosos de nuestro recorrido por India.

The Shantinath Temple is a Jain temple located amongst the Eastern Group of Temples in the Jain temple cluster in Khajuraho.
We visited the temple after seeing the Ghantai Temple, during our recent trip to Khajuraho.
The temple has its main deity in the Jain Tirthankara Shantinath. In addition it includes numerous shrines amounting to 18 in number with various Jain images. One of the shrines has a carving of Mahavira's parents.
The present structure was supposedly constructed in the 1800's marking a renewal of the site accompanied by installation of new images, as indicated by inscriptions.
The pedestal of the 12 foot Shantinath idol bears an inscription dated 1027-28 CE mentioning the installation by Chandradeva, the son of Thakur Devadhar. The original Shantinath temple has been incorporated the 19th century structure and is now the main centre of Jain worship in Khajuraho.
Although the present-day temple structure features modern renovations, the nucleus of the temple is quite old. It features an oblong enclosure of shrine cells depicting the older sculptures, in addition the temple has a courtyard. Two sides of the structure incorporate Chandela period sculptures. Thus the temple and its idols span almost 10 centuries.
The shrine in the centre contains the ancient Shantinath image which is flanked by smaller images of all the 24 Tirthankaras. The doorway includes the images of goddess Ganga and Yamuna. The 18 shrines have images from 11th/12th and 19th/20th centuries. Some images were brought here from ruined Jain temples in various places. One of the wings of the quadrangle serves as a gallery displaying historical photographs and prints from the early 20th century.

訪問したらシャンティナータ寺院は白亜ではなかったです。
管理人に尋ねたら、よく色の塗り替えを行っていて、今回はクリーム色だったとのこと。
そしてこの寺院が真新しく見えるのは色の塗り替えを行ったからで、地震で崩れてしまったところを修復しているからとのこと。
崩れず生き残った部分はそのままなので、新旧混在しています。
古い彫刻の保存状態はよくないけど、それでも見応えがあります。
個人的には投げキッス彫刻が気に入りました。

El templo Shri Shantinath está situado en el complejo de templos de la parte Oriental. Se trata de un templo jaina de la rama de los Digambar. Estos monjes van desnudos y llevan consigo un abanico de plumas de pavo real para barrer el suelo antes de sentarse y así no matar ningún insecto. Algunos también se cubren la nariz y la boca con mascarillas para evitar respirar microorganismos. Este templo del siglo XIX ha sido restaurado y pintado de amarillo. Sinceramente no queda muy bien. Dentro hay varias esculturas del siglo XI del Tirthankara Shantinatha (a quien va dedicado el templo) y de otros Tirthankaras.
Este complejo de templos es gratuito. Visita muy interesante.

Étrange temple moderne reprenant l'architecture ancienne des temples du Groupe de l'Ouest, mais en plus dépouillé, sans toutes les sculptures et peint en jaune.
