This hill is known by various names. Vetal Tekdi or MIT Tekdi or rather ARAI hill is full of natural beauty that would mesmerize you and keep you energized the entire day if you happen to go on a morning trail over here. Sunrise and sunset at Vetal hill is home to many photographers.The chirping of the birds, soothing environment, that green feel, the fresh air and the sound of different creatures overall makes it an amazing soothing experience.

This is small hill accessible from both ends (Paud phata / paud road and Law college road). Small temple is built on top of the hill. The area is not quite managed and needs really some efforts to make it better. Also take precautions if going alone. But view from top is nice and wind is brezy. I will like to go there again in rainy season.

We took a walk around vetal hill at 10am. We wanted to take the path downhill on the north side of the quarry lake. There, a man came out of nowhere and asked for money. When my husband said 'no', he took out a piece of sharp glass and grabber my husband at his t-shirt. He kept shouting 'Money! Money!' and aimed to stab my husband. So we gave him everything we had on us, about 4.000 rupees. Luckily we were not harmed, but we were very frightened. We ran up to the quarry lake again where we met some very friendly young Indian men who walked down with us to the closest neighbourhood and payed an auto rickshaw to take us to our hotel. We are eternally grateful to these young men. We are posting this message to make everybody aware to this. Please do not go up there as a couple or by yourself.

A very simple and nice tracking trip to Vetal Hill. A perfect destination for friend and family. Early morning is much better for tracking however evening is for more relax and enjoying.

Its good place to visit in morning . Sunrise view was very very beautiful . It's should be on your list if you are visiting Pune . Be careful while trekking . Avoid during rainy season .

Very nice, beautiful track and views.
But:
If are visiting for first time, you need to be very careful with the trek route you are following as it is easy to loose track. There are so many trek paths and entry and exit paths. You may end up to a different exit gate thinking you have completed the round circle, but you may be very far from starting point.
Very easy to loose track and get back to your starting point. Exit gates are closed at given times and you will not be able to climb over them.
This tekdi is spread so wide - pashan on one side, paud on other and chaturshurungi on other.
So if you want to reach back your starting point, better follow the route which you took while starting the trek.
But:

Good place for morning people . People come here for morning walk,hike , jogging , running and cycling activity . One can have best sunrise and city view from the hills .It advisable to go in early morning to feel the fresh air and sunrise . Adventure activity is also happening on hills . Don't miss to visit hills when in pune .

People come here for an easy hike or just a walk. College teens, families and many individuals come here regularly and it's quite a good experience.

The hill is full of natural beauty, good for early morning walk with peacocks around you. It is also good place to watch sun rise and set.

Vetal hill is a place joggers and walkers use heavily. There are a few trails around the quarry and the place, inspite of being mostly barren is quite scenic!
There is a small approach to the quarry which is in the middle of the hill. However, people generally sit on the top around the quarry and enjoy the soft breeze while taking in the scenic beauty of the place.

Do we have to pay any charges for visiting the place or for the vehicle ?? If yes what are the charges ?
What about the roads, are they safe enough for 2 wheelers ??

You could start the trek from Kanchan Galli close to law college. So ask the rickshaw guy to take you to end of Kanchan Galli on law college road

Hi,
Its not a trek. You can drive till the gate of ARRAI from that you can simply walk. People prefer to walk there daily or go on jog daily so its not a much distance. 2 hours for overall trip is more than enough.

Visit in Mornings as there is a good crowd of people. Dont go towards Stone Quary. It being mansoon track could be slippery. Avoid secluded places. Saturday & Sundays mornings are good to visit after sunrise and upto around mid-morning.

Its remote. And woody area. It will be as safe as a woody area will be. Animals and miscreants are very possible.
