I rarely write a negative review of a property but felt compelled to do so based on the poor response from the management in handling an event we experienced during our stay. On day two of a three day stay we were notified by cell phone at 8:30AM that the water would be turned off at 8:45 AM due to a water emergency. No call was made to the room phone.
The water remained off for over six and 1/2 hours. No drinking water or toilet facilities were available for the duration of the event.
My husband purchased water to sustain us at the shop downstairs. It was never offered by anyone at the hotel.
At checkout the next day we inquired about consideration for our inconvenience. We were told that they would not offer it because the outage was “beyond their control”. Not- “we’re sorry for the inconvenience”. Instead we were told that we should have requested water at the desk. As it turns out the repair to the water pump appears to have been one that could have been anticipated based on a look at the water department website.
This may have been an unfortunate and unusual as well as unhygienic event. The lack of communication by management and the poor customer service afterwards speaks volumes for this resort. Don’t expect much!

This review is for our experience with our wedding, only.
At the beginning of our conversations with the wedding coordinator at Angel Fire, we felt like it was a disorganized process. We felt we could accept these issues because of the venue price. We signed a contract that had us in specific locations on the mountain for the ceremony, reception and lodging all close to the base with amazing views. In the months that followed, we were informed that the Angel Fire wedding coordinator was on family leave and not available to help.
At this point, we were emailed and spoke on the phone to many different Angel Fire staff that discussed a variety of topics, who were totally new to us, or did not seem to know our previous conversations with the coordinator, or were not able to offer the things that the wedding coordinator had previously agreed to. We felt that we essentially had to start over again. At some point in this, we were informed that the wedding coordinator was no longer working with the organization. We felt like this turn of events threw everything from a disorganized process into chaos.
Angel Fire sent an email about 2 months before our wedding date saying they were not hosting our wedding due to maintenance and staffing issues. They offered to move it to different venues, which we felt were not the amazing outdoor venues that we had selected, or a full refund plus 5% to us to cancel. Given that we were so close to the wedding date and the venues that were proposed were not places that we wanted to hold a wedding, we opted to cancel and try our luck somewhere else.
When our guests called to cancel their hotel reservations like Angel Fire asked that they do, we heard from our guests - they felt the people that they talked to were not nice to them on the phone when they canceled, and in a few cases felt they had to call multiple times to get their refund.

Angel Fire RV Resort is at the top of our list for one of the best parks we have ever stayed in. The grounds are meticulously kept for being early June in high elevation. The facilities are impeccably clean and well maintained, and the staff is over the top helpful and friendly. There is a wonderful dog park for the furry kids, pickleball courts, and hot tub. We enjoyed the wine tasting and the live acoustic music out on the patio of the clubhouse with a beautiful view of the meadow and mountains. Can't get much better than this. We hope to return on another cross country trip.
Thank you Angel Fire!!

My wife and kids head up to Angel Fire every year when the Bike Park opens in May. Every time we go up there we stay at Angel Fire resort. We stay at the Resort multiple times throughout the year due to how welcoming and excellent the customer service is. The people at the front desk always go out of their way to help us with any information that we need including activities in and around Angel Fire. I have an upcoming stay at Angel Fire Resort at the end of June 2024 and am excited to be up there as I am every time we go. When making the reservation I was helped by Sarah at the front desk and she made the experience extremely pleasant. With people who are kind and friendly like she is, we will continue to come to Angel Fire Resort every chance we get. Great customer service and a pleasant stay is what you can expect when staying at the Resort!

Awesome ski resort and amazing ski instructor Barry! I had never seen “white stuff on ground” and I’m grateful Angel Fire was my first experience for enjoying it. Barry was very patient and informative in teaching me the basics of skiing. Angel Fire will forever be special place in my heart.

The mountain at Angel Fire is great and snow was perfect this year. I have removed 3 stars due to the staff and the resort itself. The staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming. Here are a few examples.
We booked lessons for 2 in our party two weeks prior to our visit. Days after making our reservations and paying in full we decided to arrive 1 day early and therefore wanted to move the lessons up by one day. I was told "There is a fee to make a change on lessons, see the policy below:
Changes and rescheduling (if available) to reservations will incur a service charge of 35% of the sale." I could accept the fee or forfeit the lesson and loose the entire payment.
This would have been almost $300 dollars just to change the lessons by one day after they had already told me there was plenty of availability. After much effort on my part and threatening to move our entire trip to another mountain they finally agreed to reduce the fees to $111. Again, just to come a day early.
The lessons themselves were sub-par. Our first timer was put in a group with varying abilities. They spent a few minutes on the bunny slope learning to snow plow and then were quickly taken up the chairlift with very little instruction. This obviously resulted in falling while getting off the lift and falling all the way down the hill. By the end of day she wasn't able to get off the lift or link turns. When she asked her instructor what she should do the next day regarding lessons he told her "just go up and try it by yourself to see how it goes". Angel Fire states on their web site that they will provide free lessons until a student is able to do those things. This was never mentioned to the student. Instead she gave up after a frustrating day.
We also had a 12 yr. old in ski school for the last time. Since there were few students in class with her she was grouped with children younger than her and at a lower ability level. For reference, last year we were skiing blues and she spent the day on green runs. When I asked what she worked on or learned she said that she didn't really learn anything new.
The next several days spent on the mountain were great. The snow was perfect and we had a great time. Members of our family have taken lessons now from Taos, Red River, and Angel Fire over the past few years. Based on these experiences, if you have brand new skiers or kids that are in ski school looking to advance I would recommend either of the two nearby resorts (Taos or Red River) before going Angel Fire. If you are not in any need of lessons and just looking to spend time on the mountain with little interaction from resort staff then Angel Fire might be worth checking out.
Also, if going to Angel Fire do not buy multiple day lift tickets. They must be used consecutive days and they will not give you a refund or allow you to move a ticket to another day. They don't offer discounts on multi-day tickets either so there really isn't an incentive to give them your money in advance. We found this lesson out the hard way as well.

Thank you for your review. We apply well communicated policy to our Guests reservation changes fairly and consistently. No different than changing airline reservations as our lessons are regularly sold out and in your case we had to adjust our staffing. Forecasting our business levels to assure proper ratios in class is a sophisticated process that requires significant adjustment. The Deluxe first timers lesson which is a 3.75 hour lesson broken into a morning and afternoon session. There are a variety of potential outcomes but most of our students are indeed linking wedge turns, stopping and riding the lift. The suggestion of continued practice is not unusual. If you felt like she did not reach her goals and needed extra time on snow with an instructor, gone to the office or assignment supervisor we would have happily accommodated free of charge. The other child attended our all-day children’s lesson. It was an all day class of 3. One was 10 and the other a rather mature 8 year old who all skied with similar skill biases and had the same skill based goals. The Instructor is certified and also possesses a Children’s Specialist designation. All of our Instructors within a day can individualize task based skill development on suitable terrain that allows for safe experimentation. We are skill based, not terrain based as over-terraining students creates negative defensive behavior. We are glad you spent several days on our mountain and had a great time with the great mountain conditions.

Mgmt not paying attention to details, did not say restaurants closed all summer when we made reservations, if they had we would not have gone. Avoid this place if you are not skiing

If you are looking for a family-friendly place, just don’t come here. The “lift house” is tiny, and you cannot bring ANY outside food or drinks or you are violating state law. Ummmmmm. What state law? And is this a lift house or a restaurant? But I digress. Everything has a very “corporate” feel too it. Like…how can I make money off of this? We spend thousands here, and I get questioned about a Coke I bring in? I plan every family vacation. I don’t even ski. I sit all day waiting for my family. I want to get away. Don’t we all? This place isn’t a vacation. It is just more work. Thanks for nothing Angel Fire.

We have gone to Angel Fire after Christmas and even though it’s crowded we still enjoyed it. Next year we are thinking of going at Spring Break. Are the crowds at Spring Break more or similar as Christmas ?

We've been planning a one-week visit to Angel Fire in July 2022, but given that the Carson National Forest is currently closed, we're wondering to what extent our outdoor options (hiking, picnicking) will be limited. Can anyone give us an idea of what we can expect in six weeks?

First timer, looking to stay at the hotel at Angel Fire- is it a ski in/ski out at the base of the slopes? And is there a kids club/daycare available for 1 - 6 year old.

Hello, of course it depends on their level and how they progress through the lesson, but our goal is to give our ski school kids a full-mountain experience!

My family and I will be there in 2 weeks for Spring Break 2020 and we are driving our EV. Aside from those charger stations published in Plugshare which unfortunately are 30 miles away, does anyone know if the resort has public-accessible plugs (NEMA 14-50 or standard 110V outlets) available in the parking lots?

Only the detachable quad chairlifts have footrests....but they are the two main lifts that extend up the totality of both the front and backside basins. If you are already a skier....they are all you need.

I planned this ski trip for my family the week of Thanksgiving,(Nov 17-23) a time we are all available to travel. Its looks like the ski resort for skiing/snowboarding won't even be opened! Can you please let me know if I'm either mistaken or if there are other outdoor sports we will be able to do such as tubing, sledding? anything... I'm going to have a few dissappointed family members. Ugh!

Last year Angel Fire did not open for skiing/winter season until December 8. Red River and Taos were both open on Thanksgiving. Snow is hit or miss at Thanksgiving. It's been a dry year, but who knows what November will bring! It will still be beautiful.
