All through Metullpalam to Coonoor and then to Ooty travel, natural vistas are just amazing. We must have gone out 6-7 spots just to grasp the beauty.
So no need to pay 2590 for this visit, separately.

A view point at highest point of Coonoor town of Nilgiris dictrict of Indian state of Tamilnadu. It is the dead end of road, the road leading to it is very beautiful with sides coverd with forests, tea gardens and beautiful bunglows. A mist covers the road most of the times near the vuew point. If it is a foggy day, then one may not be able to view the waterfall on opposite side of view point. Not well maintained by Tourust department. Be aware of monkey's of snatching away things (foods) from hand!

Even though the view point is breathtaking and can be considered a worthwhile place to visit, our visit was soured by the staff responsible for the parking…seems parking on a public road also makes one liable for the parking fees of Rs.50 (which is exorbitant to say the least, this is apart from the Rs. 30/head one pays to gain access), not that the parking area will guarantee safety of your car and belongings.. it is just an extortion scam waiting to prey on the tourists visiting the area.. its a pity that the municipality/contractor or whoever is responsible is just worried about minting money rather than providing a wonderful visit for the tourists…one just wonders why this is allowed to happen…

Went there reading other reviews. Disappointed. Road to the place a bumpy ride. At the end, as in other places, pay parking first. ( this is quite a racket everywhere) Then all the small shops appear. Making the place dirty. We were on a bad day, as we got no view of the valleys, as it was a heavy misty / foggy day.

Harassment by local stff - Avoidable place, we visited this place in october 2022 in car with family and it was an avoidable experience. Based on this experience we skipped lambs rock ( lamps rock) view point too.
Cons:
1. Congested parking places ( but managed by staff as much as possible) but expect difficulties and minor issues.
2. Harassment and illegally extra parking charges - rs. 50 per whiteboard car ..only rs. 20 for yellow board cars. Unofficial staff employed by local municipal politicians control the place.
3. But the parking receipt is just a local,unofficial bit notice print without date and time or any detils.
4. No notice board on the point of parking fee collection. They collect fee by stopping cars on middle of the road before 1 km itself. They don't show any notice, circular, board or any offical information or license for parking fee collected. They harass tourists if asked to show info. The board at the dolphins nose is also just a simple flex print without details.
5. The entry cost for going into the view point for adult approx rs. 50 for adult and rs.30 for child. Camera rs.30 per camera. Very costly.
6. Zero maintenance ..the place is not at all maintained. All plastic covers thrown in and around, coco cola, pepsi cool drink cans, cool drink places thrown in the view point. No cleaning of the spot done by officials.
7. View is good but not worth the 200 rs minimum cost for a family of 3.
8. If you are going as a large group, family easily the cost will cross thousands. Not worth it.
9. One can easily park your car on the road side and enjoy peaceful, clear views from numerous roadside points on the way.
10. The usual bad feeling of being ripped off engulfs you after you visit the place. Better to enjoy mother nature free of cost from various free road side spots.
11. Expect heavy traffic and 20 min to 40 mins stoppages on the way ( one way) on holiday. Based on these points and advise from tea shop owners we skipped the nearby lambs rock, lamps rock view point also in coonoor. Not suitable for large families, groups.
12. Only suitable if you go by bike, two wheelers. Indian tourist spots should understand the difference between tourist based economy and tourist harassing economy.

Dolphin's Nose, a view point located 9 km away from Coonoor offers valley view just any other place on the hillside. The only difference being here you pay Rs.20/- for car parking (no receipts provided...!) and another Rs. 30/- for entry. The counter have a perennial problem of not having change to return your balance and they don't have any digital mode of payments.So carry exact amount or you lose your money . Scrupulous elements thrive here and try to fool you through petty tricks to make a quick buck. Avoid this place for your safety and peace of mind.

Nice peak. The drive to Dolphin's nose itself is beautiful. On the way, you will come across tea estates where they explain the parts of leaves making green and white tea. Another spot has a creek and small waterfalls. There are photographers giving you colourful dress and clicking you plucking tea leaves in the tea estate. At the nose, the Catherine falls is seen in the naked eye. Telescope is also there to view on all sides. The place is so peaceful that i sat there till the guard asked me to leave

Pls don't visit this place it's an utter waste of money as there is nothing extraordinary about this place.
I had visited this place after 30+years and feel now they have destroyed this place, they charge 30rs for entry which I could not figure out for what they charged as there was nothing spcl... there are many much better view points in this region.
They charge 50rs for car park and 30rs for adult entry for a ridiculously over hyped tourist spot in the Nilgiris.

Dolphin's Nose is one of the important site seeing place in Coonoor and it is about 12 Kms from the town. Car parking facilities are there. Entrance fee is there. One can view nice sceneries, valley, plain land etc. Other side of Catherin falls can be seen in long view.

This is a nice view point from which you can see the valleys of Conoor. There is a entrance fee to be paid at the entrance.

it's advisable to hire a tour cab (Rs 800-1000) for the whole day & see whole of Coonoor in 1 go, cheers..

Hi. We are reaching Coonoor by the morning train from Ooty at around 11am and we have the return train at 4. Can we safely make it back to the station in time during this gap? Also, what modes of travel are available from the station? How much would a taxi typically charge to visit this place from the station and back?

yes indeed! you enough time to look around! Taxi's are easily available and they are reasonable. We took a taxi for 4 hours to look around-Sims park ,Dolphine's nose, Tea factory and 2-3 other places. We paid 500 for the taxi.
