This was my most favorite part on my visit to ooty. This place is heaven for chocolates and fudge.I highly recommend Jai King star chocolates.

Tiny shop, not the prettiest presentation but good chocolate though expensive. They don’t accept credit cards.

The name 'King Star Chocolates' has been there for decades and according to their FB page it has been since 1942. They were there when I started my career in 1980 and even earlier. This shop, a small and modest one has been selling homemade chocolates of very good quality, sometimes even better than the branded ones. Fudges have been their speciality with ground nuts and both chocolate flavoured and another white variety without cocoa. In addition, a variety of flavoured chocolates, like bitter, almond, cashew and 'rum and raisins', etc. have been their special products available throughout the year. But they do not produce liquor chocolates. About a decade ago they took orders to produce the rich plum cakes, especially for weddings with thick white cream toppings. Not sure whether they still do it. The sweets and chocolates are reasonably priced and of good quality, worth a visit whenever you come to Ooty. Of late the shop seems to have been split and it has been shifted from the beginning of the Commercial Road at Charring Cross, Ooty. One shop (Jai's King Star) has moved further down in the same road towards the market, almost adjacent to a large department store, 'Chellarams'. Another one seems to have been located on the Garden Road, as the name suggests going towards the Govt Botanical Garden, another famous landmark at Ooty.

Every time i visit Ooty buy chocolates from this shop. This time i purchase chocolate fudge, that too is very nice. My favourites are chocolate type “almond cluster” , roasted almond , white Chocolates. Good choices of chocolates to chose from.

They are the largest chocolate makers of Ooty .. and think they have a chain of these .. They are very good ... do try their varieties .. we used to buy thrice a day .. every time trying a different variant ..

If you come to Ooty and want chocolates, this is the place to buy it! Very modest place, you could walk by and not even know how good and fresh their chocolates are.

Last time i viaited Ooty was in 1998. i visited the shop as it came highly recommended by my Lawrencian friend... established since 1942.. the quality of chocolates is as good as i had them in 1998... they are absolutely heavenly... a must shop item in Ooty... it right near the main circle of ooty market.

Heard about this shop which has started in the year 1942 and three generations are doing the same business. They make wonderful and delicious home made chocolates with lots of varieties with a reasonable price. The chocolates are made of different tastes with Fruits, Nuts and Milk are the ingredients. Milk chocolates are in wonderful taste and most of them are crispy and mouth watering.
