Remember the song ‘Kasto mazaa hai’ from the movie Parineeta ? This journey is the music to the lyrics of this song ☺️
Had a truly awesome experience in the toy train -> Ooty-Coonoor-Ooty. Book the tickets in advance on irctc. There are two classes in this train - First and Second. The first class is the first or the last boggie, is spacious and gives you a panoramic view throughout the journey! The second class is very congested and only gives a side view. You can find some amazing views of the valley, forest and tea gardens on the way and rest assured it is worth your time ❤️

I took the ride from Coonoor to Udhalamangalam (Ooty). It was a weekday, hence not very crowded as well. I had first class ticket at the back. The driver was was kind enough to move me and another group who were in the back coach to the front so that we could have better views. It’s an hour long journey passing through many tunnels and great views. Should definitely do while in Coonoor or Ooty.

Its an hours journey from Ooty to Conoor in the Toy train, kinds will love it, reach early at Ooty Station to enjoy the simplicity and take photos. The Toy train is a unique experience if yoy have never sat in one before. A must if you are with Kids

Did a one way trip from Coonoor, spent a while wandering the station, wasn't sure where I was allowed, but nowhere seemed to be off limits so ended up in all the sheds to check out all yhe engines first.
Train left Coonoor around 12:30, even though we had allocated seats we were lucky the carriage wasn't full and we're able to all move around and get the seat we wanted.
Great fun both the journey and mixing with the local tourists

Travelling back in time with a steam loco steaming it's way through the nilgiri woods with picturesque views all throughout the journey is a delightful experience.

We had heard a lot about the toy train and had booked well in advance. There are few reserved tickets available at counter but all depends on rush . We had booked from ooty (udagamandalam) station to Connor. The train ride is picturesque and totally worth the 1 hr travel. By road it’s a 35 mins ride .

Should not miss the toy train ride from Ooty to Coonoor. It is a 1 hour journey. The morning train leaves about 9 am from Ooty. The Ooty station is super clean. You can do the return journey even. The afternoon train from Coonoor leaves about 12 noon. If you do a return on train starting Ooty, you can also easily visit the Sim's Park in Coonoor which is only about 2 km from railway station. The tickets to be booked from IRCTC. The first class ticket is abt Rs 350 and you get a designated seat number. 6 people in one cabin. The view enrout is breathtaking. If you get a window seat, you will have the best views. We found this ride much better than the Darjeeling toy train ride.

It's much hyped thing to do in Ooty. Frankly speaking it was no different than a normal train except you are seating in an enclosed cabin with 7 other co passengers. You get some excitement when the train passes through 3-4 long tunnels en route. Kids will enjoy definitely

It was worth the try. We had pre-booked the tickets. The overall experience was surreal. The view outside the window was so beautiful. Got to know the stations between Udagamandalam and Coonoor. This is definitely worth the experience if you are with kids. Our son enjoyed this train ride a lot.

I am panning to travel from Coimbatore Airport to Coonoor late night ( starting after 10.30 PM )via CAB. Is it safe to travel with wife during this timeframe ?

Due to Covid -19 Pandemic situation, train is suspended until further notice.
Ticket can be booked online on IRCTC site or IRCTC rail connect mobile app.
Station name is udagamandalam (Ooty) and Metupalaiyam (Near Coimbatore).

Your travel from Ooty to Coonoor at the 1st class gives an excellent view whatever side you sit. But I would suggest you if your travel is from Ooty to Mettupalayam, I promise the real senic beauty.

Do not ever travel in an unreserved car of an Indian 'toy train' or long distance train. On many occasions, these will have lots of standees.
