Only few shops for tourists and it is a regular Bazaar for Ooty people. Some eateries, home made chocolate shops and shops selling winter wears. Nothing more. No great souvenirs or likewise.

We have visited the main market area during our trip to Ooty. The main market area start from Adams Fountain in Charing Cross and stretch all along the Commercial road till the municipal market near the railway station. It has many restaurants, shops, small vendors, famous Ooty home made chocolates and much more. This place is always crowded with tourists and locals and we enjoyed strolling around while shopping and eating.

Throughout the hill station town of Ooty, there was a heavy emphasis on selling many types of chocolate. The bazaar was no different. I found the quality only fair. It is a long way from NZ or Victoria in Australia, prime dairying country.
The bazaar also had a good range of cold weather clothing and jewellery, neither of which I needed.

The Main Bazar is full of interesting places to shop particularly choclates.
I enjoyed shopping at the Chellaram shop next to a popular restaurant. It is a good place to while away and buy Ooty Mementos and other stuff including choclates. Eat at the Aadyar Anand Bhavan - great place. If there is some waiting time, shop at Chellaram store.

Main Bazar Ooty
मेन बाज़ार ऊटी में देनिक जरुरत की सभी वस्तुएं जेसे बेकरी का सामान, सब्जिया, फ्रूट, रेडीमेड गारमेंट्स, गरम कपडे, जाकेट, दवाइयां मिल जाती है.
बाजार में सरकार द्वारा संचालित दुकानें भी है . ऊटी में और उसके आसपास की सभी उपज इस बाजार में बेची जाती है, जेसे चाय, किराने का सामान और कटलरी आइटम, स्थानीय चित्रकारों द्वारा कपड़े और स्थानीय संस्कृति को दर्शाते हुए कपड़े शामिल भी हैं .
यहाँ से लगभग 1.5 km की दूरी पर अपर बाजार है , जो वास्तव में मुख्य बाज़ार है .
अपर बाजार ऊटी शहर के केंद्र से 1 km, रेलेवे स्टेशन से 1.5 km की दूरी पर स्थित है. यह शानदार सुंदर व् चोडा बाजार है, परन्तु ट्रेफिक यहाँ बहुत है. बाज़ार में सड़क के दोनों तरफ विशाल शो रूम है.
यहाँ SBI, विजय बैंक के साथ SBI, AXIS BANK,UNION BANK के ATM भी मोजूद है.
अगर मूवी के शोकीन है, तो दो सिनेमा हाल गणपति व् सतीश भी मोजूद है . अगर तबियत ठीक नहीं है तो हॉस्पिटल की व्यवस्था भी है. पूजा पाठ के लिए श्री अय्यप्पनमंदिर , बलामुरुगे मंदिर, महिरा मस्जि, ज़कारिया मस्जिद भी मोजूद है .
भोजन करने के लिए होटल व् हर तरह के वेज व् नॉन वेज शानदार रेस्टोरेंट है अगर शौपिंग का मूड है तो आपको सभी मशहूर ब्रांडों के प्रोडक्ट यहाँ मिल जाएंगे. लोकल मेड चॉकलेट हर जगह मिलेगी है .

Nice place to shop some clothes and jewellery as well. Specially woolen and silver. Go for it and enjoy the local taste of ooty

this is the best place to buy woolen clothes...You can find good quality ready made jackets, shrugs & many more items.

We went around the market area for window shopping and ended up buying a few things. There are quite a few eateries selling ooty varkees and home made chocolates. The tibetian shops' sells good sweaters. My son was keen to increase his collection of toys. We shopped happily.

Went to the Main Bazaar in Ooty while in a trip to Coonoor. This place is a fantastic place if you are looking to buy quality 925 Silver jewellery. We spent 3 hours there, just looking at silver shops and we found some amazing things. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to look at much else on that day, but it looks like there are lots of other things you can find it there. I would highly recommend it. Plus, you can do a bit of bargaining also. I will be back next time I am in the area.

Ooty market (Main Bazaar) is located near Adam's Fountain at Charring Cross. The market is small but have everything within eat. There are lot of eateries having delicious food. Ooty is famous for homemade chocolates, the outlets are present in this market.
A good market to have evening stroll along with your family. Auto's are available near market till night.
