My husband and I loved our morning at Bamboo Shoots cooking class. Our hotel pickup was included, as was a visit to the Sanur fresh foods market. Then we travelled to a hidden garden oasis where all of us took an active role in cooking up Lemongrass Chicken, Beef Rendang, fried rice, satay chicken and spring rolls, all from scratch! We ground the various spices, made the batter for the spring rolls and then cooked the wraps, chopped and diced… all under friendly and expert tuition.
Oh, and we had a cooked breakfast before we started.
At about 11.30 we sat down to each of our dishes, all of which were delicious. Whilst I’ll probably never go to these efforts at home, I really appreciated the understanding the class gave me into the various stages involved in producing this food from the fresh raw ingredients.
A great class, and excellent value!

My son of 14 came along and we both had an amazing adventure! After a pick up from our resort we started at the local food markets which was wonderful in itself. We got to the cooking school and enjoyed a breakfast of banana pancakes and coffee or juice. We then got to prepare, cook and EAT a good variety of traditional Balinese dishes. We got to ask questions, learn different techniques/recipes and make friends! You get a recipe book to take home too! We had an awesome time and I would definitely recommend. We had a fantastic morning, visiting the market, breakfast and then cooking and eating lunch. All six courses were really good, and everybody was always busy, but not pressured.

We had a great morning visiting the market and making our six dishes. There was so much food we could not eat it all. We made Chicken Satay, Basil Chicken, Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang and Pandan Pancakes. Our son is 10 and loved the experience.

What an excellent way to spend Xmas Day morning 2022!! A great experience, pick up at our cruise ship, market, breakfast, then lots of prep and cooking followed by eating it all for lunch. Couldn't have been better. Thank you Irma and Wati.

I had a great morning with Irma and Wati, starting with a visit to the market before heading to the cooking school. We had a light breakfast before getting started with the cooking and eating! 6 different meals and a dessert, all the Indonesian favourites. The class went at a good pace with lots of participation by us. Can’t wait to get home and try out the recipes that they give you in the book at the end.

This was an amazing experience. Our transfer from and to Kuta was arranged. We met at the morning market, Sanur, to buy our ingredients. Then back to a private villa resort. We were served a lovely breakfast of banana pancake and coffee and juice. Then into the Bamboo Shoots Cooking hut. We made everything from scratch. Wati and Irma were beautiful instructors, very attentive and organised and so sweet. The colours and smells and flavours had our senses invigorated . What a beautiful way to learn about Bali. Well done ladies and thank you for having us.

I don’t think you can chose what you cook. We found out what we were cooking when we got there but we were in a bigger group, it could be different if there is only a couple of you. I would message the page and ask as they are very responsive to questions.

Not a problem as long as you watch what they are doing. Sharp knives etc. they will love it I think.

Hallo, ik zou graag willen weten of je echt alles zelf mag koken (onder begeleiding) of wordt er ook veel voor je gedaan? Ik heb meerdere kookscholen gehad in Azie, soms is het meer toekijken en een beetje zelf koken en dat zou ik erg jammer vinden.
