Came here for the first time because I wanted to hunt for delicious Solo culinary specialties. And indeed we found a lot of really delicious food. The tip is, if you go there, just buy a small portion and share it, so you can taste a variety of foods. The food we tried was Bu Sri's nasi liwet, dawet telasih and gempol plered hj. sipon, lenjongan, cakwe ho, grilled chicken klate and bacem. There's a lot... 😄.
What needs to be improved is market cleanliness. Hopefully it can be made like a modern market but don't charge additional rental fees to traders.
If you go to Solo, you must come here to enjoy the delicious culinary delights...

Walaupun tidak nyaman tetapi saya selalu mampir ke sini kalau ke Solo, sekedar beli dawet atau jajanan lain ..belum ada yg berubah setelah bertahun tahun..tapi ya tetap ngangenin..di masa pandemi gak berani beli jajanan....walaupun saat ini sudah pedagang jajanan sudah memakai etalase...

This Solo Big Market is very famous for locals and tourist or foreigners who visit solo. In the market you can find almost all traditional foods, fruits, clothes etc. But more than a decade "Gede Solo Market" is famous of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration and since 2007 it became a very big yearly happening. It is because not only a Chinese New Year celebration but also "Grebeg Sudiro", the ceremony to show the acculturation between Chinese and Javanese culture of the people of Solo. In a month long the area was decorated with 5000 red lanterns hanging above the road, the bridge along the river and the chinese temple ofcourse. Every evenings was always crowded of people and street vendor and boat ride on the river. It's very special to experience it but be careful of the pickpockets.

Hahaha.. go here because of the famous dawet ice.. just drop of from the main entrance and ask an old lady that sells fruit where is the famous dawet ice that people talking about 😋 and she was very kind to show us the way.. ta da.. the crowd was there so have to be patient to be serve. I also bought bumbu pecel since saw bunch of bumbu pecel that I never saw 😅 take alook at the pic 😘sorry guys forgot to take pic on dawet ice..

My friends and I bought Es Dawet Telasih & Getuk here. There are so many traditional food here.
You must be careful If you bring a children here because it is veryyy crowded.

Seperti pasar kebanyakan. Mencoba dawet di dalam pasar-biasa aja rasanya....membeli 1 pax wedang2an.tidak bisa di tawar..klo pernik2 dapur yg ada di depan pintu utama .masih bisa di tawar.
