It is quite a way away, depends how you are travelling but by car with Izmir traffic probably 30 to 40 minutes but bad traffic 60 easily.

Yes Its possible but you wont be able to enjoy Izmir on a day trip. It would be better to stay at Izmir for at least 3 nights so you can explore a lot of places like Ephesus, Sirince, Kusadsasi etc.

HI! I have seen two very useful hints given by fellow TripAdvisor travellers which you would have great interest in following. To the best of my knowledge and memory, Izmir have no close by beaches, even less walking distance to main attraction. Izmir is a tremendous cosmopolitan city by the sea, with nice attractions and restaurants, some very fashionable by the Kordon. But no city beaches.

Hello Leo, I have stayed at Hilton, but hated it. There is Swiss Hotel, but it is a little pricey. I do not know other hotels in Konak. Antalya is very far, so is Fethiye. Four day is not enough. In fact, four day wasn't enough for us just for the city of Izmir. Fethiye is about 8 hours round trip from Izmir. Antalya is about 12 hours round trip from Izmir, and Pamukkale is about 6 hours round trip. I have not been to Pamukkale. I would suggest Fethiye because,I have been to Antalya and it is so hot and dry. I like Fethiye better. Its quieter than Antalya and nature is beautiful. I have not been to Pamukkale as there isn't much to see besides the natural formations of rocks. I hope this helps. For reference; We have rented a taxi to Ephesus in Selcuk which is about an hour away. This trip has cost us 600 Turkish Lira round trip.
