Izmir is one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey for me. Not only the direct location by the sea with its many beautiful bathing destinations, fishing villages in the immediate vicinity, the great weather, its history (Ephesus), but also the openness of the people (the very European) makes this metropolis a great destination.

The part of the building overlooking Izmir Bay, located in Kordon and used by the French Honorary Consulate, was transferred to Arkas Holding for twenty years in 2010. The Restored Building Began Operations as Arkas Art Center on November 19, 2011. The Arkas Collection, which was created by Arkas Holding Chairman Lucien Arkas and includes more than nine hundred works, and various major works are exhibited at the Arkas Art Center. Between September 2019 and January 2020, Pablo Picasso's Works were Exhibited at Arkas Art Center as part of the Picasso - Mediterranee Project. The building, which houses the Arkas Art Center and was completed in 1906, has two floors and has nine exhibition rooms and a workshop.

I visited the exhibition in Alsancak last year and enjoyed both the preservation of the building and the content of the exhibition. This year I had the opportunity to see the carpet exhibition in the mansion in Bornova. A very enjoyable atmosphere was created.

A lovely collection of 17-20th century artwork from around the world. The museum itself is inside of a historic Turkish home. The employees were very helpful and the museum was a hidden surprise.

We saw a show featuring a collection of paintings that we very much enjoyed. There is no information available in English and no one to speak to about it that we could find. That said, it was a charming way to spend an hour.

What a find - this free museum/art gallery is a gem. There was an excellent exhibition “L’air de Paris” on & it was beautifully curated showing off some of Turkish impressionists in Paris at the turn on the 20th century. Totally enjoyed our visit. Staff are friendly & helpful especially the warm & smiley security guy who manned the entrance. Made us feel like welcome guests. Must visit when in Izmir.

Всем любителям искусства понравится данная галерея, в ней представлены работы знаменитых турецких художников, а также различные скульптуры. Дополнительно проводятся выставки определенной тематики, конкретно мы попали на тематическую «турки во Франции», было очень интересно, но ничего не понятно.

İzmir e her ziyaretimizde uğradığımız bir müze zaman zaman eserleri değiştirmeleride çok güzel bir uygulama 12.mayıs.2022 tarihindeki son ziyaretimizde Mitler ve Hayaller adlı bir serği vardı oldukça degişik ve yoruma açık eserler gördük aynı zamanda herkesin ücretsiz olarak burayı ziyaret edebilmesi de takdire şayan emeği geçenlere teşekkür ederiz.Ayhan TURHAL
