感觉很是宁谧的一个公园，很适合闲逛拍照的，我们去的时候人很少，朋友说前段时间有红叶的时候人流很多，不过我还挺享受这种静下来的感觉

很容易找，顺着人流的方向，园子里的树都有型，山也不高，水很清，就是人特别多，公交线路有点绕，买的PASS券，只能坐市营的JR公司的公交车不可以坐

前往的季节虽然是秋天，但却是在枫红之前，园内仍是绿意盎然。园区很大，需要花些时间参观。漫步其中，景观令人放松。
当日是假日的下午，人潮并不是很多，可以很惬意的随处走走看看，大部分的人都集中在石灯笼处拍照。

园林面积很大，2小时逛不完，但暖化的气候，使得9月底的天气异常高温，园林树木仍然绿意盎然，缺少想像中秋天的优雅，但园林中的一草一木，茶屋建筑都维护的很细致，毕竟是金泽市最重要的文化财和观光景点。9月造访金泽，短袖和清爽的穿着为宜。

When JHW_Nn said "..only a few plum blossom trees out,..", what do he mean? The blossom is thinning as it approaches the end of plum blossom season or there aren't many plum blossom trees?
I will be there 15/Mar and hope to be able to see plum blossom. Cross my fingers.
Anybody has any idea what is situation of plum blossom by 15/Mar.

We were there 3rd wk Feb & was just starting to bloom. Hopefully you are able to see full blossom by the time you are there. Perhaps you shd check online

Parking is difficult and not necessary unless you are in a wheelchair or such. The park and castle are well served by public transport and once you are there it is great walking around the park and castle and art museum.

The time it takes to stroll around the garden will vary depending primarily on your interest in appreciating the features of the garden and the weather. I would suggest a minimum of one hour. I could easily spend four hours there on a nice day.

We will be on the Diamond Princess in Kanazawa from 7 to 3pm next April and wonder if it is easy/practical to get to the gardens ourselves - don't know where ship docks. I see we can get around ok once we get to the train station but don't know how to get there from ship or whether we should settle for cruise excursion - prefer to do it ourselves if we can

The Diamond Princess is the largest cruise ship that uses Kanazawa port at 115,000+ tons. Because of this I think it uses the Ohama Wharf and not the Tomizu Wharf, where the smaller cruise ships dock. Ohama is on the north side of the harbor nearer the harbor entrance where it's deeper, but also further from the bus lines. (Viking may be able to tell you if this is correct).
Either way, with limited time in port (I think you depart at 3 PM), I would look into a taxi from the wharf to Kenrokuen and that museum area. It would save you time and the hassle of finding bus stops and making transfers in a place you've never been. A taxi to Kenrokuen should take about 25 minutes and cost somewhere around Y2000 (It cost me about Y1000 from the station to the garden). If you have 2 or 3 people to share the costs, the convenience and time saved would make it worth the extra yen.

I didn't know the answer but I see someone else has replied with that. However, if you have the choice, get there early. It was very busy when we visited mid morning and hard to experience the tranquility.
