Omiya is a ward in Saitama city near Tokyo. Omiya means "Great Shrine" Actually, there is a huge shrine that is Hikawa jinja.
According to a legend, it was built in 473 BC. The area is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. When I visited the flowers were falling. The petals were so beautiful like pink-snow on the ground.
Basically, spring is the best time to visit. But you can enjoy anytime.

The grounds were simple yet stately, but on the contrary, it is because it is not decorated that it has a sense of dignity

I visited the shrine after 4 p.m. on a weekend in January. It was a late hour for a visit, but there were many people there. The worship hall was large (especially the offering box, which was about 10 meters wide), and had a solemn atmosphere.

There is a path to the shrine that stretches about 2km from the first torii gate near Saitama-Shintoshin Station.
You can walk to the main hall in about 30 minutes, admiring the flowers and trees planted on both sides of the path and fully enjoying the solemn atmosphere.
Pass through the second torii gate and enter the grounds through the third torii gate.
(From Omiya Station, it is about a 15-minute walk to the second torii gate.)
Cross the red drum bridge over the sacred pond, go through the temizuya (purification fountain) on your left, and through the tower gate in front to reach the dance hall, worship hall, and main hall.
The deities worshipped are Susanoo-no-Mikoto, Inadahime-no-Mikoto, and Okuninushi-no-Mikoto.
In addition to the main shrine, the 10,000m2 site also includes the auxiliary shrines Monkyakujin Shrine, Amatsujin Shrine, Munakata Shrine, and the six shrines Sumiyoshi Shrine, Shinmei Shrine, Yamazumi Shrine, Atago Shrine, Kaminari Shrine, and Ishigami Shrine, as well as Matsuo Shrine, Mitake Shrine, and Inari Shrine. Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, is quietly located next to the second torii gate.
The parking lots at the neighboring Omiya Park and next to the NACK5 Stadium have become coin parks, but the shrine west parking lot is free. (Closed during the Oyu Festival and New Year period)
The first parking lot next to the third torii gate has also become a coin park, but it seems to offer free parking.
There are plenty of things to see, including pebbles, the Battleship Musashi monument, the Kagura Hall, the Couple Cedars, and the Hebi-no-Ike pond, which is said to be a power spot.
It is said that fireflies used to fly around in the spring water of this pond.
There is a place beyond the Chozuya where you can get some holy water for free, so it might be a good idea to bring an empty plastic bottle with you.

The symbol of Omiya. This shrine is the Ichinomiya of Musashi Province.
It's about a 15-minute walk from Omiya Station, so it's just the right distance to visit while taking a stroll.
We visited on a November holiday, so the grounds were bustling with families visiting for their Shichi-Go-San ceremonies.
Despite the size and fame of the shrine, there are few teahouses or souvenir shops on the approach, giving it a calm feel.
It's about a 15-minute walk from Omiya Station, so it's just the right distance to visit while taking a stroll.

大宮駅東にある神社ですが、手前のさいたま新都心駅付近からある参道が素晴らしく、入り口から向かいました。途中にお団子やさんもあり、暑い中でしたが楽しめました。

武蔵一宮の一つ。
宮中の四方拝で遥拝される一社で、東京都・埼玉県近辺に約280社ある氷川神社の総本社。
古来は中山神社と氷川女體神社を含めた広大な神苑だったそう。
出雲色が強い成立ち。
境内左奥には蛇の池があり、凄い気配。
禊ぎの場所か？
池に浮かぶ宗形社も美しい。
主祭神は須佐之男命。
後年に持ってきたもと思われる。
御朱印も描いて頂けた。
特殊御朱印に、「月と蘭陵王」。
当社と蘭陵王に何か関係があるのか？
厳島神社に蘭陵王の像があったが？
三連休中日に参拝。
雨だったが、お宮参り・結婚式などが行われており賑やか。
かなり儲かってそうでした。
