“JR日光”

这次我们用的周游券并不包括JR，故此这站只是参观一下。这站明显西式建筑，不是日光的历史跟西方拉上什么关系?

“很漂亮”

很漂亮的车站，如果坐jr过来的话，在这里下车，这里有限定版的stamp可以盖章，有两枚。西瓜卡充值也很便利。楼上有旧时的待合室。

Visit the Tourist Information Centre

The central train station of Nikko. But recall that there are two - one for JR, one for Tobu. But either way, they're in walking distance from each other. I alighted at the Tobu one.

Either way, go to the Tourist Information Centre (or was it Visitor Information Centre) and ask about any tourist passes or transport passes you qualify for. They have access to some passes that aren't clearly described online. Staff also speak English and are patient, highlighting how to maneuver around with a marked map.

Gateway to Nikko (1 of 2)

Nikko has finally been given a facelift. The main street has been revitalized and is now tourist-centric. You'll find derelict buildings on back streets but at least you won't see nearly as many as on the main street. JR & TOBU stations have always had a sense of nostalgia and class, now the town has some too.

駅だけど・・・

ここは、もはや１観光地と化し、駅としては本当に寂れちゃってますねぇ･･･。すぐ隣の東武日光駅は賑やかなのに、ＪＲは凄く静か。
そう言う私も、自家用車で来ました。日光へ行くのに日光線は使わないですよね。何せ、宇都宮乗換で１時間に１本の普通列車、それも山手線のお下がりの通勤型車両ですからね。

そんな鉄ヲタの愚痴はさておき、やはり日光を観光するなら、立寄って欲しいかも。２階展示室もそうですが、かつて外交関係者の避暑地だった時代は、ここが日光の玄関口だった訳で、その面影はありますからね。自動改札以外は。

今回も、長女の修学旅行が中止になったための訪問なので、まずここに立ち寄りました。女性の駅員さんが、電車にも載っていない息子に205系のペーパークラフトをくれたのは、私は複雑でしたが、ＪＲもここを観光地として扱っているんでしょうね。

JRの駅です

日光の駅は東武線の駅前が栄えており、こちらのJRの駅側はちょっと寂しい感じがします。
ただ、建物自体は結構見どころがあります。
JRの電車はすごく本数が少ないため、時間を調べて行動する必要があります。

鉄道時代の黄金期に建てられた美しい洋館の駅舎。ドイツのバーデンバーデンとかをお手本にしたのかな日光・・・？　脱亜入欧を目指した時代の建物だろう。

Pequeña estación muy bonita

El edificio de la estación es precioso. Dentro tienes los servicios esenciales, incluyendo una sala de espera cerrada para no pasar mucho frío, sus maquinas con café caliente y frío y demás. Frente a la estación paran todos los autobuses, incluyendo el gratuito para Edo Wonderland.

One of two stations

I arrived in Nikko via this rather charming station. I wasn't aware there was another station not very far away - I just don't get that. Anyway, clear signage and a very good information desk with maps and information on bus tickets.

Questa stazione merita una foto perché ha mantenuto la facciata delle vecchie stazioni. Oltretutto è il punto di arrivo per visitare Nikko, da qui parte il bus che porta alla zona dei santuari.
