This was my first experience at the Kannawa steam bath.
Bath fee: 700 yen, rental yukata: 220 yen
Inside the 8 tatami stone chamber, the medicinal herb Sekisho, which is said to grow in clusters only along pure streams, is spread out.
You lie down on top of the herb wearing a yukata, just like in a rock bath.
Unlike a rock bath, the herbs are spread out, so it feels like you're lying on grass.
It only lasts for 8 minutes, but I sweat profusely.

清流沿いにしか群生しない薬草「石菖（セキショウ）」が敷き詰められた窯で、その上に横たわるスタイルのむし湯です。
初体験でしたが時間も2回延長してもらえ、ちょうどいい発汗で気持ち良くデトックス効果もありそうでした。

施設の人が親切に手取り足取り入浴方法を教えてくれます。安心していけます。、蒸されるのは、他では無いから一度は経験しておくべき。なんだか、楽しい。今回は二度目の訪問でした。また、来たい。

This was a new experience for me. You first go onsen, and then you go to a small room and stay there for 8 min. It was not like a sauna, this was more comfortable. And the onsen was also clean and nice. If you haven't tried this type of onsen, I recommend this.

The steam bath was really something new. Not like the steam sauna I thought it would be. Very relaxing. There is also a ordinary bath to enjoy afterwards.

Wow! This was my favorite unique onsen experience of the trip. You lay on a bed of local dried herbs in a yukata for up to 10 minutes. When you are our you will feel fully refreshed and can bath in the small traditional onsen after a shower.

Kannawa is a large area with lots of places and shops to see. There are a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants and onsens. It is a good place to take pictures and experience the serenity and beauty of Beppu.

I love to start my morning from here:) To be steamed myself makes me relaxed and also detoxed. I enjoy the steam bath here with my friends and sometimes going there by myself.
Wear the Yukata, lay down on the Japanese traditional herb called Sekisho and be steamed about 8~10min. If you love Sauna, you will love it. If you are claustrophobic (don't like tight place), I don't recommend here since the place you will be steamed is very small and nallow space. If not, this is the place you MUST GO in BEPPU! I highly recomended!
They open 6:30. I recommend you to go in the morning and start your day and hope you enjoy the rest of the day in Beppu:)

鎌倉時代から続くという、日本でここだけの古来からの入浴法が体験できます。
施設自体は割と新しく綺麗です。
別府に来たらぜひ立ち寄られることをお勧めします。
