We took the rail and then walked to the castle. Spent 2-3 hours, depending on how long you spend reading all of the history. The grounds are wonderful! There is a great traditional restaurant down the street that is wonderful for lunch

There are plenty of taxis, just ask someone official and they can direct you to one. Bring cash, as Japan is a cash society and chances are your taxi may not do card.

There are various performances, depending on the time of year. If you're referring to the dancing, it's done Weds.,Fridays, Sats., Suns., and holidays at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. in the area of the castle that you don't need to pay to get in to. Details about all the performances (location, dates, times, cost if there is one) are on the Shuri Castle web site. Google "Shuri Castle" and click at the top to change it into a language you can read.

Hi Traveler: I can honestly say there is a public light rail that goes to the Castle convveniently from Naha, the same light rail from the airport. We went to one cave about 30 minutea by public bus and there are buses everywhere. My wife's cousin rented a car to see "American Town" and the Aquarium. That's what I know. Have a good trip.
