This place is in the downtown of Alor Setar square, good for relax and jogging around. Behind of Balai Besar in the museum.

You can only walk around it but can't really enter the building. It's really beautiful and worth a few pictures.

This open-sided structure was built in 1896 and is still used by the sultan of Kedah for royal and state ceremonies, though it is not open to the public but it's still great to view it from the outside as well as from the back (next to the Royal Museum). Supported on tall pillars topped with Victorian iron lacework, the building also shows Thai influences in its decoration. Very nice

Translated as "the main hall" or "the grand audience hall", Balai Besar was built in year 1735 as part of Istana Kota Setar palace complex. It was used as a venue for formal functions & as a reception hall. Public can view this beautiful historical building only from the outside but its stunning architecture is really worth to see.
