Being a racing fan and having visited racecourses in various parts of the world thought we would visit their meeing on 1st Feb .Tried to find details on website which was strong on regulations for Jock, Owners and race conditions but NO info re race times dress code.I did discover from a local; source that they was an air conditioned area available to day members ,but NOWHERE did it say that men wearing tailored shorts would not be admitted .The est of the general area was scruffy dirty and no shade from the 32deg heat.General public get a brief glimpse of the runners as they go out but no large screens outside .Food and drink facilities minimal ,not even the locals were using the ("t)ea Room "!!.Only positives was low admission charge of 6rig and that by sheer fluke I managed to pick a couple of winners .Not an experience I will be repeating . .I would have complained to the club but I notice since my return to UK that the website is "Under Maintenance "maybe I was not the only complainant

Alles etwas kleiner und kompakter als bei den bisherigen Turfclubs die ich besucht habe.
Anreise via Grab ist der einfachste Weg.
Paradering geht gleich in den Track über, die Wege sind generell kurz (Toiletten, Getränke, Sitzplätze). Sitzmöglichkeiten draußen im Schatten.
Casual look ist ausreichend, aber hauptsächlich männliche Besucher, davon einige die einen teilweise ohne Scham anstarren.

The racecourse doesn't feature in any of the tourist maps + is a little difficult to find but a worthwhile afternoon pastime.The course is impeccable + the horses appear well cared for.After being informed at two different bus stations (Komtar + Jetty) that no bus goes to the track I booked Grab.The cost was reasonable at 10 r for a 15 minute ride.Admission was 6 r ($1.50 US).I noticed buses on a nearby road, Ayer Itam, so the ride home was only 1.40 r .
The racing started at 1.45pm + finished at 5.45.
Racing is on selected weekends.Check out the website for racedays.The jockeys seem to fly in from Singapore + Macau.The prize money is on the low side so I assume the horses are ones not good enough for Australian,HK or Japan.
The paddock is in front of the A/C grandstand and the horses are paraded with the "jockeys up".
I really enjoyed my afternoon here + will plan to visit again.

I'm not a gambler so the only time I came about this spot is when they have their yearly horse show. Lots of activities for the kids and of course there are horses and carriages for fun

Interesting to see a smaller race course having been to Melbourne cup at Flemington.
We had coffees while waiting for the races to start as we arrived early races started at 2.15am. One of us won the other lost. As l said before a great day out.

Everywhere the equestrian club is advertising including on the Turf Club's own web site. When I rang to book I was told the club closed down quite sure time ago! Pity their marketing macho doesn't know it!

Founded in 1864, the Penang Turf Club is the oldest of the 3 Turf Clubs in Malaysia. The early Penang racecourse was situated along Mccalister Road in 1869 until 1939 when it moved to its present premise in Batu Gantong. Located on a 270 acre site, the turfted racetrack is 1900 meters long and 24 metre wide. The three storey grandstand with a capacity of 14,000, gives an unobstructed view of the racing action. The turf club also has a riding school, the Penang Turf Club Equestrian School as well as an 18-hole golf course on its premises. Horse racing events take place on two consecutive weekends every two months. The dress code is smart casual.

ジョージタウンの中心部からタクシーで20分程度の場所にある。気だるい昼下がりにマレーシアの競馬オヤジたちの濁声の声援が場内に響き、熱気を醸している。観覧席とターフの距離が近く、迫力のあるレースが楽しめる。馬券はRM2（約60円）程度から購入できる。競馬開催日は限られているので、事前にWEBサイト等で調べてから訪れることを薦める。

I am attending the race meeting at Penang on September 14. Can anyone tell me how to contact the club in order to book a table for the day? There appears to be nothing on the website to indicate how this can be done.
