Our whole family enjoyed this food experience greatly. Starting with a traditional Indian breakfast followed by the shopping tour at the local market, sampling as we went, and finishing at Nazs’ kitchen to cook a traditional Malay lunch. Nazs’ knowledge and insight on all things food and Malay were fantastic. Thank you.

My partner and myself took a class with her. It was a very informative and fun experience. We had several tasty snacks going through the market. We loved her outside kitchen setup and the recipes. We cooked a vegan variant and it was no problem 🌿

Nazlina is a very seasoned chef and teacher for Malaysian cuisine, my friends and I had a great time cooking at her cozy house.
We met in the morning for breakfast in an Indian restaurant, Nazlina then took us to wet market for shopping. She introduced local ingredients & bought snacks for us to try. The atmosphere of class was relaxed, we enjoyed the food we cooked for lunch afterwards! The overall experience is wonderful!

What a wonderful way to start a Sunday! I so enjoyed Nazlina's class, which was paced appropriately for all levels of cooking experience. The day began with a friendly greeting and meeting, then walking to a nice local market (one I'd never find on my own), and Nazlina deftly navigated our class through collecting key ingredients and some tasty street food finds. Along the way, she tells stories and explains the significance of key ingredients--the elements that make a recipe come to life, the kind of joy you can't get from purchasing a recipe book. Take the time to ask questions; she's a fount of knowledge and has a cultural awareness of where you might be coming from, and enjoys the back-and-forth. I loved all three dishes we made and feel confident that when I get home, I can recreate them (mostly) in an authentic way. An exceptional experience.

We loved our morning session with Nazlina. She met us at 8am and we began with an awesome breakfast, and then a walk through the market tasting a great variety of local snacks. We had full bellies and we had not even started cooking yet! Nazlina was a fabulous and funny host, with so much knowledge of Penang food and culture which she was happy to share. Back at her home after picking up the fresh produce, we were quickly chopping and dicing and following Nazlina’s lead. And an hour and a half later we sat down to lunch. The food we made was delicious. Thoroughly recommend!!!

We followed the morning market tour with a cooking workshop at Nazlina. It was a fantastic experience. We start with a delicious local breakfast after which we walked around the market together, bought ingredients for the cooking workshop, got explanations about local ingredients and products. Nazlina bought some snacks for us at the market which we could try on the spot.
The workshop was very extensive, there was a lot of attention for everyone. We would not have missed it!

We finally got to do a cooking class with Nazlina after booking it 5 years ago! Obviously, COVID prevented that. Nazlina was a star, and with excellent communication, she held our booking until we could finally make it.
She was fun, witty, and knowledgeable, and we learnt a lot from her about Malay cuisine. A great morning shopping st the market, then taking us back to her home to cook in a delightful setting. The photos speak for themselves. The food was delicious!

We had such a great time cooking with Nazlina. The day started out with a breakfast and walking tour (with local snacks!) around town picking up ingredients and visiting the markets. My children (7 and 9) had such a great time visiting the food stalls and learning about Penang.
Then came the cooking - it was such a wonderful and educational experience. Nazlina was very knowledgeable and hands on with teaching the cooking class. She also made it fun for my children to learn how to cook.
I highly recommend signing up when you’re in Penang. You’ll learn a lot about the history, culture and food of Penang and best of all you’ll learn some new dishes!
Then came the cooking - it was such a wonderful and educational experience. Nazlina was very knowledgeable and hands on with teaching the cooking class. She also made it fun for my children to learn how to cook.

We signed up on a whim for a cooking class with Nazlina. Little did I know we would be entering a Malaysian cuisine odyssey of great proportions!! Nazlina is not only one of the world’s foremost experts on Malaysian cuisine, her knowledge of regional and international haute cuisine is profound. Nazlina has a special knack for simply explaining some very technical cooking techniques. If you are debating whether to sign up for a cooking class, just do it. You will have a GREAT time!!
