60年以上も営業しているこの店を見つけました。ペナンにはおお土産の店は多くありますが、この店の者がとても親切でプロフェッショナルであるので、気楽での買い物ができました。私のニーズに十分対応できるように日本語でコミュニケーションができました。
家族のためのお土産としてピューターを手が欲しかったです。この店ではマレーシア鈴製品すべてのブランドが入手できます。ロイヤルセランゴールは一番のブランドのようですが、他のブランドもあり、すべて97％の錫で作られています。他の国も同じ高錫含有量のピューターを生産しているとは思いません。
ペナンでのお土産を購入なら、私はこの店を勧めます。

泊まっていたＥ＆Ｏホテルに近い所にあり、ガイドブックにも紹介されていたのでわざわざ探して見に行きましたが、錫製品や民芸品のようなものばかりで、お土産として購入できそうなものは何もなくすぐに出てしまいました。
その時は気が付かなかったのですがなまこ石鹸が置いてあることを知って翌日曜日に行ったのですが、日曜は定休日のようで閉まっていました。
ジョージタウンでなまこ石鹸を売っているお店は少ないの見つけたらその時すぐに購入したほうがいいですよ。

Lovely and friendly owners but was dishonest when I asked her where the Peranakan porcelain were made. They were hand painted for sure but in China not in Penang. (I discovered this by walking 50 meters around the corner where another antique shop was selling the exact porcelain products, which the owners were very up front in disclosing all of the bowls were hand painted in China). Tired of being lied to by sales people.

As I enter the shop, I feels like being transported to the 70s or 80s kinda feel...A quaint shop selling all sort of souvenirs local and neighboring countries. I bought several beautiful nyonya dinner ware from this shop. The shop owner were very friendly and courteous husband and wife. I had a very good bargain and the price were very reasonable. Highly recommend if you want to bring back some nice souvenirs from Penang. They properly wrapped my ceramic ware with newspaper and again with bubble wrap. I will buy from them again when I visit Penang.

NB: New address is 193&195 Penang Road
Stumbled on this place while just wandering around.
We'd been on the lookout for peranakan porcelain reproductions (teapots, plates, Kam cheng etc). Didn't have much luck finding prices any better than in Singapore. This store had a great range and offered really good discounts too
Lovely couple were really helpful. Packed the items beautifully and safely.
Couldn't have had a better experience. They sell loads of other stuff too - statues, pewter, wooden masks and carvings etc.

Was traveling for work and found this little gem. They were friendly and had a wonderful offering of products. I got to know that the original location burned down, but they rebuilt right around the corner. They seemed to have higher quality products compared to other stores and although the prices were a bit on the higher side, they did give me a bit of deal. Would certainly recommend and come back next time I'm in town.

Those with a penchant for bric-a-brac will be delighted to know that Hong Giap - a wholesaler that sells an eclectic range of Royal Selangor pewter, nonya beaded slippers, batik, Peranakan crockery, tiles, etc - offers all these wares at very reasonable prices. The outlet that I went to is located in Jalan Hutton near Campbell Street.
I bought a peranakan kamcheng and decorative glass panel inlaid with a single peranakan ceramic tile for RM350, which I felt was a good bargain. The chatty and personable shopkeepers will carefully bubblewrap your purchases for you and even mail them if desired. My purchases were thoughtfully placed in a lovely recyclable tote bag with straps long enough to be slung over the shoulder.
The next time I visit Penang, I will definitely drop by Hong Giap!

This business has been running for 60 years and counting. Sadly they got a fire outbreak in last Sept. But they are now back again at 300m away

Hong Giap present address is at 9, Jalan Hutton, Penang, after the original location was burnt down in Sept 2017. The staffs are very friendly and has been dealing with tourist from all over the world.
There is another shop by the name Hong Giap Hang but that is a totally different shop.
Sorry, i am confused by the listing name and the informations of this listing. Based on the photos and the address, it is Hong Giap. Not Hong Giap Hang. As for the reviews, i believe most of the reviews are given to Hong Giap, because as far as i know, Hong Giap staffs are friendly and polite and speak japanese, and they have handmade soap, which Hong Giap Hang does not sell. So, i hope that the listing name may change to Hong Giap to prevent anymore confusion to others anymore

It is confusing indeed, as the 2 shops bearing a very closely resembling names.
Hong Giap originally located at 308-312 Penang Road, very close to the junction turning to Burma Road, but it was burnt down in 2017 and relocated to 9, Jalan Hutton.
