This was amazing ~ visiting the long house, seeing orang-utans in the wild, trekking through the rainforest and swimming at the base of the waterfall ~ what a memorable experience.

Terrible experience with a HOBO group from Belgium, room was dirty, full of cobwebs and vermin, pillows and mattresses full of dirty spots and moldy, luckily I had my own pillowcase and towels, 2nd day there was no water and we had to wash in a river...where a local boatswain had previously relieved himself...so I couldn't wash myself
The only positive thing was the excursions.
Worst experience ever in a hotel, but you can't call this a hotel, but a filthy hut near a large chicken cage with noise day and night...

Optimale beleving met een minimum aan comfort.
De transfer met de longboat 1,5u is al prachtig op zich.
De hikes zijn top ! We hadden het geluk een groepje oerang-oetangs te spotten !

Tour Guide & Boatman: Very friendly and helpful throughout the whole trip with amazing skills in cooking and boating. (seriously not kidding, their cooking is better than the food we ate at a restaurant near Lubok Antu)
Accommodation: Exceed my expectations! I didn't hold a very high hope towards the lodging in a forest but theirs is amazing! It was clean, with mosquito net and a well-maintained bathroom for each room!
Electricity: Available from 6+ to 10+ but I have no problem with that. Just charge your phone between that period. It is quite cooling during the night.
Things to bring: Sunblock is very important during the ride from the jetty to the longhouses, easy to dry clothes, slippers and sports shoes that you won't miss
We are very lucky that we saw a wild orang utan hanging from the trees during the boat ride, it was amazing!!

Staying with the Iban tribe, experiencing their way of living, eating there food, enjoying their company (very friendly and welcoming) and being in the reservoir surrounded by the rainforest and its inhabitants exceeded all our expectations. And our guides Edgar en Nik from Borneo Adventures made it even better!!! When you are in a Borneo you need to do this.

We stayed in an Iban village longhouse the first night meeting our guides. The next day they led us out on our jungle expedition up the steep river valley sides. Over the following days we saw a number of tropical birds, river fish, a snake,many insects and an Orang utan asleep high up in its nest. Spectacular scenery; sheer drops down the hillside, and one afternoon we found ourselves in a pool with its own small waterfall, where we spent a while cooling off and washing! The Iban guides were very friendly and helpful in finding our nightly basha areas near to the river where we set up camp. One observation we made when we were at the summits of the hills - there was a continuous haze or smog that sat over the area which reminded us of the need to ensure better land conservation and management. Overall, this was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience which pushed us beyond our limits...not for the fainthearted.

L'aventure c'est l'aventure. Nous avons adoré notre escapade dans ce magnifique parc national. 3 jours de rêve, des moments qui resteront à toujours gravés dans nos mémoire. Un seul regret n'être pas restés plus longtemps. Quel bonheur de naviguer sur une pirogue en allant à la rencontre du peuple Iban et en découvrant leur principe de vie dans leur maison appelée Longhouse. Notre accueil fut sublime, invités à partager le verre de l'amitié. De plus, un extraordinaire pique-nique au pied d'une cascade nous a comblé. Une seule pensée, y retourner pour vivre une aventure beaucoup plus longue et pourquoi pas un trek dans cette région.

We recently stayed here sharing a Forest Room for the three of us, which had its own bathroom and contained a double and two single beds. The room was very basic, but that was what we loved about it. The windows all had mesh and the beds had mosquito nets over them to keep the insects at bay. The power came on from around 6.30pm to 10.15ish in the evening, so cameras and phones could be charged whilst eating dinner. The bathroom had cold water only, and the toilet was flushed using a bucket of water. No towels or shower gel was provided, but we had bought our own microfibre towels and toiletries with us. It was necessary to use a torch in the night when getting up, as the room was pitch dark. We were collected by long boat by an Iban couple, and transported an hour and a half along the Batang Ai Lake and then down river to the lodge, which is next to their longhouse. All the cooking and cleaning is done by the local Iban people, and the trip included an evening visit to their longhouse to meet the chief and drink rice wine with them. The food here was really tasty if a little basic, but was just what we wanted to try, as it was totally authentic to them. The tables where food was served were looking over the river, and the whole place was just so relaxing and peaceful. At night you could hear the hum of the bush, as well as a few cockerels from the longhouse, and the odd dog barking. We were taken on a guided rainforest walk, and also a boat trip upstream to a waterfall where we swam in the water and got our feet nibbled by little fish. The whole experience was amazing and we loved our time here at one with nature. We were with Borneo Adventure who run a cooperative with the local people to provide work for them, which we thought was a lovely thing and a great opportunity to meet with the local people.

Con Borneo Adventures abbiamo deciso di passare 2 notti presso il Nanga Sumpa Longhouse della Tribú Iban.
Partenza di venerdì alle 8 del mattino. Dopo 2 orette di viaggio ci siamo fermati al mercato locale di Serian. Molto carino e caratteristico. Ripresa la marcia, dopo un oretta e mezza ci siamo fermati a mangiare presso un ristorantino locale veramente ottimo! Alle 14 circa arriviamo finalmente al ferry point per raggiungere la Longhouse. 1 ore e mezza circa di navigazione SPETTACOLARE nella giungla e se 15.30 circa arriviamo al Nanga Sumpa. Veniamo accolti calorosamente dai bimbi Iban e ci sistemiamo. Siamo completamente immersi nella natura: meraviglioso.
Alle 19 cena dopodiché ci siamo recati a visitare la Longhouse e conoscere il capo tribu. Squisito il vino di riso che ci hanno offerto.
Alle 21.30 tutti in stanza a dormire.
Le stanze sono molto spartane seppur dodate di zanzariere e ventilatore (la corrente funziona solo dalle 18.30 alle 22 quindi munitevi di torcia. A fine agosto non faceva caldo anzi, di notte fa fresco).
La notte è un ulteriore esperienza: Mille rumori generati da insetti ed animali difficilmente identificabili: surreale. (si dorme comunque, è tutto molto rilassante).
Mattino sveglia alle 7,colazione e via trecking nella giungla. Le nostre guide Stepanhy e Java ci hanno spiegato tantisttime curiosità circa piante e animali della giungla. Conclusa la camminata abbiamo proseguito il tour con le barchette lungo il fiume. Durante il tragitto abbiamo avvistato dei macachi e diverse farfalle colorate. Arriviamo alle cascate dove ci fermiamo a fare un bagno e preparare il pranzo cucinato dagli iban. Poco prima di pranzo accade l impensabile. Vediamo in lontananza delle frasche muoversi fortemente. Gli iban alzano la testa per capire cosa possa essere fino alla conferma: sono gli orangotango. Un iban decide dunque di arrampicarsi nella giungla ed avvicinarsi il piu possibile fino a che non lo vediamo: 3 esemplari adulti di cui una con un bimbo in grembo. Un emozione non descrivibile a parole.
Dopo questo raro avvistamento ci godiamo il pranzo e torniamo alla Longhouse. Free time per fare un altro bagno de fiume e giocare con i bimbi iban. Cena, dormita e il giorno dopo si riparte per tornare a Kuching.
Un'esperienza indimenticabile.

Vanwege slechte service geen hogere beoordeling. De locatie is prachtig. Service slecht. Handdoeken zwembad op. Wijn op. Cocktails op. Meer dan uur wachten op eten. Massage meer dan twee keer zo duur dan elders in Maleisië. Verouderd complex maar dat heeft wel zijn charme. Heel mooi uitzicht over stuwmeer.

Kan niet geloven dat je deze plek prettig vond: mijn kamer was vuil, vies, beschimmelde kussens, kapotte matrassen en ongedierte, als je een ziekte wil opdoen, moet je hier komen.

Bij klachten moet u zich bij de organisatie wenden en niet onze ervaring in twijfel trekken noch bekritiseren.
Ons verblijf was prima, het logement is inderdaad basic maar alles was netjes en proper.
