A real local day trip which we felt was a way better experience than anything else we did. We combined it with a visit to the Semenggoh Orangutans in the morning.
On arrival at Annah Rais Longhouse, we chatted to the locals, were invited into their homes, enjoyed music and food on offer. The hot springs are accessible for visitors.
Definitely get a local guide though as otherwise you wont get a good insight into the daily life and culture of the Anna Rais Longhouse.
Our local guide who grew up there was Drika from 'See Borneo'. Email is seeborneosales@gmail.com, mobile +60 10-368 4321. Drika was an excellent guide, well travelled world wide, with excellent local knowledge and history, together with impeccable English.

Relaxed place and very good opportunity to visit a longhouse. Small entry fee and option to buy small gifts, drinks and some herbs (e.g. pepper) from local people. All in friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We did combine Annah Rais Longhouse with visit to Semenggoh nature reserve (not far and easy to combine in a half day trip from Kuching). We visited by ourselves with a grab from Kuching (not needed to book a tour e.g.)

Joseph a été très accueillant et nous a raconté de nombreuses histoires locales. Il a tout fait pour faciliter notre séjour. Inoubliable !

We stayed at the longhouse with our 8 yo and we were hosted by Mr Joseph Enang for 3 days and 2 nights. Over the 3 days our host passionately shared with us the history of the people, culture and the longhouse.
Our experience were richly blessed when we get to interact with the longhouse residents who were by nature, friendly and generous. We get to see how they lived, worked and played. Among the highlights of our stay was the visit to the hot spring, rafting, jungle walk and visit to nearby waterfalls.
One of the most unique highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the private music presentation given by the reclusive Mr "Rambo" using traditional instruments (Pratoung and Sape) whom in our opinion is an undiscovered musical gem. He played the mesmerizing music from the instruments he made himself where all the materials were sourced from the local rainforest.
The best way to travel and experience Annah Rais Longhouse is to spend some unhurried time there where the charming treasures at this place opens up to you.

For me, getting to the longhouse was the best part. Myself and a fellow traveller hired a driver/guide to do a day tour including Semenggoh Nature Reserve and two long houses. Annah Rais was interesting to see, people seemed friendly considering the volume of tourists they must normally see (tourism way down because of COVID, few weeks before lockdown). The drive to Annah Rais was beautiful, the highlight of the day. We made many stops to explore and take photos along the way.

Visitors can enjoy a day trip to experience the new adventure at this longhouse; Bidayuh or Land Dayaks village which about 100km or an hour drive from Kuching city.
Studying the different culture ,heritage and way of life is crucial to maintain the harmony society ; alike wooden bridge connecting longhouse to the communal hall.

A unique experience to walk in a real Bidayuh village and see the longhouse. Though many of the villages have opted to build concrete houses, the longhouse is left standing. Though the longhouse is a little rundown, some rooms are renovated for home-stays. Good and new experience to walk on bamboo floor and bamboo bridge. It is better to follow a local tour so that the knowledgeable tour guide can give a clear explanation of the 'panggah/ pangah/ baruk ' (Warrior Hall), display of skulls, the canon with XXX symbol, the little museum, neighboring village. local 'tuak' etc. And I also enjoyed the hot spring which is just a short distance away.

I'm not sure what I was expecting but my visit to Annah Rais Longhouse felt like a complete letdown. This Bidayuh settlement is located around one hundred kilometres South of Kuching, for a small fee we were able to wander freely along the bamboo terrace between the ecclectic mix of buildings of simple construction. We encountered very few locals or tourists, refreshments can be bought at a store, also freshly sun baked tapioca 'chips' can be bought from a resident. Of interest was the Head House or Panggah complete with skull bones. Having my time over in Kuching I would not invest any time to visit Annah Rais Longhouse.

クチンから観光タクシーで訪問。住居から何から竹を中心とした生活があり、今もある程度続いている、ということがわかるところ。まあそれだけとも言えるが、懐かしいような気分になった。途中の車窓風景も堪能した。
