It's very pretty but no guide just a lady to whom you pay entry and that's it. It’s a shame because we would have liked someone to explain the history of this cave and the queen to us.

To have! An impressive cave at the end of a small path in the middle of the forest. Our children (5 and 7 years old) also loved it! Bring change for entry.

Nice little outing. The visit takes around half an hour. Be careful, take a flashlight or phone, otherwise it's impossible to access the bottom and therefore there's no point. Lack of explanations.
The caretaker was very friendly. We spoke with her and she told us about her yam plantations, the recent fires etc... very pleasant exchange

It is a very short and with a torch you can navigate to the open part where the light comes in from above. A very bright torch is necessary, or just stop and let your eyes adapt. Some small bats and some pretty views.

We wanted to visit this cave with our friends, group of 7 people. We arrived at 9am, when it should be open, and waited for the lady, who showed up 30 minutes later. We did not mind waiting, you know island time. But when the lady finally showed up, she was very rude, and started yelling at us. Apparently she did not want to see tourists. We promptly left.
Very disappointed. We then went to the grotte de la troisième which was very nice, and no rude lady there.
We met other people that had the exact same experience, so don't waste your time and just skip this unpleasant stop

Nous avons eu de la chance car la gardienne de la grotte était bien lunée le jour de notre visite... Le prix a augmenté depuis le covid mais reste tout de même raisonnable. La grotte se visite en une vingtaine de minutes en prenant son temps, il n'y a pas d'éclairage donc il faut utiliser le flash de son téléphone portable. La petite balade dans la jungle avant l'entrée de la grotte se prête bien aux photos. Je trouve juste dommage qu'il n'y ait aucun panneau explicatif sur cette grotte. Nous avons dû chercher les réponses à nos interrogations sur Internet, ce qui n'est pas le but d'une sortie dans un lieu touristique...

Très belle visite : flore exceptionnelle et grotte aux dimensions impressionnantes. Contrairement à certains avis nous avons eu un excellent accueil de la dame. Je recommande vivement 👍.

Agressivité dès la sortie de voiture par la "gerante" pour venir la régler directement (nous cherchions la boîte).
Visite superbe, un très bel endroit avec un jardin tout aussi beau. Nous avons pris le temps de découvrir avec un petit garçon qui a fait plein d'exploration (nous étions dans les horaires de visite).
Et puis la dame vient nous chercher en colère en nous demandant de payer plus car nous sommes restés beaucoup trop longtemps.
Puis s'en suit un monologue tout aussi agressif et insultant.
Son comportement semble tres inadapté, pas vraiment cohérent. Ça a gâché notre visite, je n'y retournerait plus tant qu'elle sera là.

Les photos parlent d’elle même, nous étions dans les horaires. Le prix a doublé, et c’était fermé. Dommage que ceux qui se sont appropriés le lieu en faisant payer un impôt ne s’en occupent même pas.

Gardienne d'emblée très désagréable en nous demandant de rester bien loin pour des questions sanitaires.
Curieusement, s'adoucit quand on a régler les droits d'entrée
Le cyclone a fait tourner les tête, il faut désormais payer 500 francs pour une grotte de peu d'intérêt

How did you get there? Did you go on a tour or make your own way there. We are arriving by cruise ship and they don't have any tours to the cave.

There is no tour but to be honest you don’t need one because it takes 15 minutes to visit. We went to one of the hotels on the island and rented bikes, and we cycled there. Alternatively go to one of the hotels and ask for a taxi, it’s the only way. Hope this helps!

Can I walk easily from cruise ship drop off to grotto ? Can you enter on your own? Do you pay to do so?

It's a fairly long walk, 11 kilometers actually so 22km if you walk back. There's a small fee to enter as the cave is on private property (tribal). 250xpf but definitely worth the entry fee.

You would need to take a taxi when arriving with the cruise ship as the Grotte is in the middle of the island and too far to walk. There is a small entry fee (less then 5 dollars if I remember) and it’s safe to walk there, just take a Torch or use the light of your mobile phone to walk through.

In my case there were a number of tours running around the bend from the jetty. The tour I went on cost $25 Australian & went for about 2 hours. It went to a number of different places as well. You pay a small donation to go down to the cave. It's an easy walk to & from
