Woke up at 5am and headed to Brgy Tungkop. You can come here by bus from the Cebu south bus terminal, or grab (abt 400 peso). We didnt know where to alight and was walking around looking for the motorbikes. Do set Lolo Tinong Bakery as your destination on Grab, and hop onto a bike 50 peso per person per way to the chapel (starting point of the hike)

Upon reaching, we started the first 5 min with the kids following us asking if we wanted a guide. There were no signages and we took a wrong turn and the kids called out to us (although we already told them that we do not want a guide). We were then joined by a local who has cows and chickens on the hill, and he share that he’s 76 years old and go up the hill daily to feed his animals. We eventually reached the local’s place, took a short rest, and continued the journey up. It took us about 50 mins to reach the top, and on our way up, there’s also a stray dog who accompanied us after we parted ways with the local. We started the hike at 7am and when we were up there, there was no one at all. So we had the entire place to ourself.
Coming down, the dog stopped following after a while and we had to figure out the way ourselves. We took another wrong turn but were lucky to meet other locals to guide us. Do take note of the route you took and be careful of the narrow, slippery pathways. Sandals or covered shoes are highly encouraged.

Mt. Naupa is located in the City of Naga..the hike is perfect for that adrenalin craving especially for the beginners. The temperature at the camp site usually drops at night and you'll get a refreshing view of sunrise when you wake up early.

● Challenging than Osmeña Peak ✔

The trail is a bit dangerous since it rained the day before we went here. The way is muddy, slippery, narrow and steep unlike Osmeña Peak. But when you almost get to the top, the path is already easy and manageable. 👍The struggle is real but it's worth it in the end. The feeling is gratifyingly awesome and the view from the top is amazingly wonderful. ☺ For your own safety, my advice would be: it is better to do such trekking when the weather is fine and no rain has happened before the day you will go and do the trekking. ☺

For further info below are the rate for the fare (if you're from Cebu), and the route we took to get there.

• From South Bus Terminal, take a mini bus to Brgy. Tungkop, Naga Cebu for only 25pesos.
• Then from Brgy. Tungkop, take a motorcycle or habal-habal as we call it in Cebu to get to Bry. Cogon Chapel which is starting point of your trek to Mount Naupa or you can just tell the drivers that you're going to Mount Naupa and they will lead you to it. The standard rate for the motorcycle is 50 pesos per person (one way).
• Then when you get to Brgy. Cogon Chapel, you can see kids who can guide you to the top. ☺ The rate for your guide depends on how much you will give them. Like us, we give them 40 pesos and we're five in the group (40×5=200 for them). So 👌, right? 😊
• Then an entrance fee of 20 pesos per person is the rate for you to take the challenge at Mount Naupa. 😊
• Then if you want to take a detour going down, you can suggest it to your guide and try taking the road to Brgy. Lanas. You can see more beautiful scenery over here too and the trail is manageable as well. 😊
• And then when you get to the main road at Brgy. Lanas, you can take a jeepney ride back to the Municipality of Naga Cebu for 14 pesos per person.
• And when you get to the Municipal Hall of Naga, you can take a bus going back to Cebu (South Bus Terminal) for only 30 pesos. And then that's it, you've succeeded another adventure in life!👍😊

The peak is a good 30 mins motorcycle ride, it is very remote and far from the main road. The trek to the peak, on a normal pace, should be about 40 mins. Beginners should NOT hurry up. Rest whenever you need to. There's a couple of steep path going to the peak. Newbies are advised to take their time and not rush as it will likely not end well for you. One group member almost fainted due to exhaustion as she did not stop to catch her breath. And she was only half way to the peak.

There are few good views along the path to take pictures. Rainy season is not a recommended time to visit the peak. Roads leading to the drop off site is VERY muddy, the path going to the peak is very slippery.

Motorcycle riders will often ask you for a higher price going there. Don't fall for it. Regular transportation price is only 50 pesos per person. a motorcycle can carry two passengers. Some will ask you to only ride a single motorcycle if they see that you are "heavy". My GF was 83kg at that time, and I was 55kg, we only rode one motorcycle. And we paid the rider extra because he did not asked for a price. I am more than happy to pay more if they do not ask for a price.

The view is great. I'd say it's well worth the travel. If you are lucky, you can even see fog coming your way when the sun is almost gone.

BTW, You'll meet few dogs along the way. They are friendly and they will accompany you to the peak. Seriously. Bring some treats for those guide dogs.

You should try night trekking there. Reach the peak before sunset and descend during night time. We did that. I have few high powered flashlight with me and it was a good, exciting night trek.

Adventure is outside your comfort zone. No great views during night time, but the experience is your take away.

I can do a night trek guide and provide the lights needed.

The climb was easy. It only took more than an hour to reach the summit. Also, our hike was an ideal time, since we were there to chase the sunset. We had a good amount of rest and took a lot of pictures. We also had fresh coconut juice!

How to get To Mt. Naupa:
1. What we did? Since Naga is not too far from Cebu. We went there via Jeepney. It takes two rides to get to our meetup place at Tungkop.
2. If you’re not from Cebu, you can take a bus for Php30.00
3. From Tungkop (Tinong’s Bakeshop) take a motorcycle/habal-habal to Cogon Chapel for Php70.00(back and forth)

The peak was beautiful and the place was good for pitching your tents. You could have a nice view of the city and of the other mountains near it. The hike we took was a bit tough, so as an advice if you're a beginner take the easier one. We rode habal-habal (motorcycle drivers) from Gaisano Minglanilla to Brgy. Cogon,Naga City. The fee was 150 for two persons, thereafter arriving at the chapel of brgy.cogon you can either ask people or hire a kid guide to accompany you through the peak. The fee we gave was 50-70 pesos (2 kids). We had a hard time reaching through the peak as we didn't have enough rest while going up.

Tip:
Travel light as much as possible, trekking could be difficult, if you're carrying too much stuff.
Its not as cold as that of Osmeña peak, so a good ol jacket would suit enough.
