We passed by this place and sadly we weren't able to go inside but the mansion just looks divine! Sad that the new buildings on the property somehow obscured the mansion's loveliness!

We briefly stopped here to take its outside pictures. My driver/guide informed me that advanced reservation is needed. One could not just show up and expect to be let in.
Learned that entrance fee is 250 pesos per person! This is quite exorbitant!
We decided to move on. Perhaps, I could try again when I’m back in the city.
My question is: Why can’t it be open daily and for free?

our guide brought us there but we were not able to enter the place as he said it is only for weddings and other occasions, the place looks just a perfect one for a garden activity

A very fine example of how the rich and famous lived during those times. Hard wood flooring, European decor, glassware, memorabilia, etc. Beautiful landscaped garden. A hidden gem.

The Lopez Heritage House or Mansion de Lopez ("Nelly's Gardens") is a national heritage house built in 1928 by an Ilonggo statesman Don Vicente Lopez and his wife, Doña Elena Hofileña. The house is in Beaux-Arts style and exhibits the extravagant lifestyle of Iloilo's most affluent families during the American colonial era in the Philippines.
I was happy to walk the grounds at p100/head, but less enamoured of paying the p1000/head for the tour of the interior (sorry, Dear Reader). I've toured many ancestral homes here in the Philippines, and the tour price just seemed way out of proportion as to other places I have seen of similar quality as this one. Still, there is no question it is a beautiful piece of architecture, and the preservation of the grounds also makes it very special.

The thing I like from the place is the ice cream they sold, which had a distinct flavors. The building has a nice feel to it, inside though you got merch... buy the merch!

This review is for the garden wedding that I attended. Upon arrival before sunset, I was wondering how to enter as the gates were closed. The driver decided to blow the car horn and the guard opened the gate. One gate is exclusively for entry, while the other gate is exclusively for exit. The garden is large, but not large enough because on one end is a view of the lopez house, but the other side is a clear view of the rickety ugly looking shanties along the road. Doing a garden wedding in the midst of summer, in formal clothes, prepare those portable battery operated fans! It will be tolerable at around past 7pm, anything before that is sweaty, humid, hot. The toilet they allocated for the garden wedding belies the venue maintenance standards: very basic toilets, separate for boys, and for girls. Open, allowing all sorts of garden insects to share with the user. To help control the insects, the management allowed cobwebs to grow along the upper part of the toilet walls. To add some color to the basic white paint, you will see the stains of what looked like stuff that are excreted by small lizards.
The main house was closed during the whole affair, so I won't comment on the inside. But the house is not really that big, and I could see that as the car had to turn around the whole house to go from the entry side to the exit side. It is just very high ceiling.

One of Iloilo City's national historical landmark, this mansion owned by the Lopez clan was built in 1928 and is located in the Jaro district of the city. It may not not be as old as the other ancestral houses in town, but this mansion is definitely one of the most well-preserved. It has a vast lawn in front of a white structure in art deco style.
I was quite surprised when I called up its administrator just four hours before our visit to book a guided tour to the house and received a positive response. I thought one had to book days ahead before visiting the place. Well, I guess they didn't have many reservations for that afternoon, and so they immediately accommodated us.
The lady who guided us -- Ma'm Lucia -- was very knowledgeable concerning every single detail about the house, as well about the history of the place and of the Lopez family. She guided through every single room in the house, from the main entrance up to the second floor. The place is really well-maintained .... the flooring made of tindalo wood, the narra carvings and cornices on the ceiling, the frescoes on the wall, the Chinese decors, the Italian chandeliers, the stained glass windows, the tiles on the floor and in the rest rooms, etc. She was so accommodating as we asked her information about the photos on display, the gowns once worn by the women of the house, the musical instruments, the soirees that used to be held in the grand sala, the furniture, and so forth.
A visit to this place is like travelling back in time, at least to the time of the American era. It gives you a glimpse into the lifestyle of one of the well-off and prominent Ilonggo families -- the Lopez family. Aside from the house itself, the surrounding gardens are also very interesting and offer you great spots for pictorials. By the way, both the gardens and the mansion can be rented for special occasions (like weddings).

Fee is reasonable for the quality of information and impressive architecture. Definitely a must for those who appreciate history and heritage and the tour by Ma Lucia Cachuela is A+. I totally respect their request for not taking pictures indoors since the family resides here when they visit. If I had known sooner about the bed & breakfast available, I would have preferred this to a hotel!

No there is no fee to pay, it is free for public viewing even taking photos is allowed.
