It was a pleasure to see a performance of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at the State Kremlin Palace today. In a production by Andrei Borisovich Petrov, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, founder of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre. The overall impression is delight! No worse than in the Bolshoi with its inadequate prices and grey scheme of selling tickets to the Nutcracker. As for the State Kremlin Palace, it certainly retains its status as one of the best theatre and concert venues in the country. Well, it seemed...

The rating is exclusively for the procedure of passage, queue and time spent. They came almost two hours before the start of the concert, the concert itself was delayed by 40 minutes, people continued to come after the start. The concert itself was almost flawless, for which I thank Dmitry Malikov. But you should only come here as a last resort.

26.01.25 My daughter and I attended the insanely beautiful ballet of the Kremlin Palace "The Little Flower" based on the fairy tale of Sergei Timofeyevich Aksakov.
Preliminarily, we read the libretto.
The duration of the ballet is 2.5 hours with one intermission.
To recapitulate the plot: in the forest in a clearing grows a flower of remarkable beauty, from which comes a magical glow. The prince did not reciprocate the sorceress, for which he was turned into a monster. One of the merchant's three daughters asks to bring her a Scarlet Flower. The father brings his daughters a crown of pearls and the youngest, Nastenyke, a flower of petite flower, upon request. For bringing a flower, Nastenka decides, instead of her father, to return to the monster. For Nastenka's good feelings for the monster, compassion, the evil spell breaks and the monster becomes a prince handsome.
The costumes are bright but also delicate.
The image of each character is chosen with special trepidation and care, thanks to which you believe everyone unconditionally. Honestly, I felt like my daughter and I were stopping breathing, so immersed in the action on stage.
It was like everyone was fluttering on stage, light and weightless.
The scenery deserves special attention for its complexity and layers. Particularly impressive was the scene of the boat trip to the sea by the daughters' father.
Much of the credit for our mesmerized perception goes, without a doubt, to the orchestra. For it is thanks to the orchestra that we, the audience, empathize with the actors, or, on the contrary, as in the case of the sorceress, believe her insidiousness and vindictiveness.
Still, I would advise you to observe the age limit of 6+, since not many children are able to sit for a total of 2.5 hours, and also to perceive the production, in this case ballet, without words. I also advised you to familiarize yourself with the libretto beforehand.
I'm sure we'll attend the ballet at the State Kremlin Palace.

Ballet "The Little Flower" at the Kremlin Palace.
It is a production based on the famous fairy tale of Sergei Aksakov, which tells the story of love, kindness and victory over evil charms. It is usually classical ballet, but there may be modern interpretations.
Attending the ballet "The Little Flower" at the Kremlin Palace was a real immersion for me in the world of fairy tales. It's not just a spectacle, it's a whole event where the splendour of the Kremlin's architecture blends harmoniously with the magic of dance and music. From the very beginning, when the curtain rose, I found myself involved in a magical story that made you forget everything.
Musical brilliance: The ballet's musical accompaniment was at its best. The combination of classical motifs and more modern interpretations created an atmosphere of mystery and magic. I heard fragments from Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, and other Russian composers that perfectly complemented what was happening on stage. It was like the music was telling a story itself, leading me through the twists and turns of the plot.
Choreography: Body language telling a fairy tale: The choreography, in my opinion, was impeccable. The ballet moves were precise, graceful and imbued with emotion. I really liked how the choreographers were able to translate the fairy tale into body language, creating expressive images of the characters. The combination of classical ballet elements of folk dance added a special highlight to the performance. The skill of the dancers was evident, every gesture, every look was full of life and expression.
Sets and costumes: A trip to a fairytale world: The sets and costumes were delicious. The stage of the Kremlin Palace has been transformed into a magical world full of bright colors and fairytale images. The scenery was elaborated to the smallest detail, transporting the audience from a simple peasant life to an enchanted castle. The costumes of the characters – from simple peasant outfits to exquisite monster robes – were made with great taste and skill. They not only complemented the images, but also helped the audience experience the characters.
Emotional impact: This ballet is not just a beautiful sight, it is an emotional journey. I was genuinely worried about the heroes. The feelings I had were very genuine and powerful. It's one of those times when art resonates in the soul and leaves behind a profound impression.
Overall impression: I've been absolutely delighted with the ballet "The Little Flower." It wasn't just watching a play, it was a real celebration that gave me a lot of positive emotions and experiences. The combination of magnificent music, exciting choreography, stunning sets and costumes, as well as professional performance by the artists made this performance unforgettable. I can safely say that The Little Flower is one of the best ballet productions I've ever seen.
Kremlin Palace as a playground: The Kremlin Palace itself added a special charm to the performance. The grandeur and opulence of this place made watching the ballet even more solemn and memorable. The architecture of the Palace and its interior atmosphere were ideal for this kind of production. It wasn't just a trip to the theater, it was a real outing that left behind a feeling of celebration and special solemnity.
Visit recommendations: I would strongly recommend attending the ballet "The Little Flower" at the Kremlin Palace for anyone who loves ballet and fairy tales. This is a great option for family vacations that will appeal to both children and adults. If you want to immerse yourself in the world of magic and beauty, feel strong emotions and enjoy the art, then this performance is for you.
In conclusion: The ballet "Little Flower" at the Kremlin Palace is an unforgettable performance that combines beauty, emotion and professionalism. It's not just a ballet, it's a true fairy tale that brings the audience to life on stage and gives them joy and inspiration. I will definitely go to it again and recommend it to all my friends and acquaintances. That ballet left only fond and luminous memories in my heart.

On January 22, she attended the Kremlin Ballet Swan Lake with her sister, my 2nd ballet at the Kremlin Palace.
To get to the ballet, it took two/an hour and a half to get there.
You need to stand a giant queue for screening, conducted as carefully as at the entrance to the airport.Absolutely a HUGE plus!A portion of the audience who were unaware got into the auditorium with a decent delay. Queues along the Kremlin wall can be observed at every event.
I want to single out the polite staff.
The State Kremlin Palace was built between 1959 and 1961. The coats of arms of the former 15 republics of the Soviet Union can be seen on the wall.
Tickets : Row 12,10/11 seats.
The music is known to everyone, the plot is known to everyone, but still people go to the ballet over and over again because it's beautiful, heartbreaking, romantic and beautiful.
The costumes are gorgeous, even on the 12th row you could see how much work the costume designers, the artists did.
And in your age, you could not even imagine how much fun just going to Swan Lake would give
Swan Lake Ballet premiered on February 20, 1877. It's 148 years ago, and the feeling that music and dancers on stage create feels like it's all happening for the first time!
Brief table of contents, for those who do not remember......
The prince is celebrating his birthday.
The Queen reminds him that he must choose his bride, but he is not ready to marry and goes hunting to get away. At the lake, he meets an enchanted swan girl, falls in love with her and takes an oath of allegiance, and the evil sorcerer decides to stop them. He brings another girl to the ball, exactly the prince's chosen one, and so he cheats him.
The Prince understands the deception and in a fight on the lake defeats the Evil Genius.
Odette and Prince Siegfried are rushing to meet their love and their happiness! The rays of the rising sun bring life, love and good into the world.
The most visited place at intermission is the buffet. In the Kremlin Palace it is located on the top floor. The buffet tables are located around the perimeter of the Small Hall. It hosts concerts and shows.
Although the Kremlin Palace has a large audience, there is no crowd or stampede in the lobby during the intermission. You can move between floors either by stairs or by escalator.
I recommend visiting the Swan Lake Ballet at the Kremlin Palace - it is some other dimension and it will not leave you indifferent.
With photos/videos - very strict! The girl nearby adjusted the camera, and the controller is already here.I didn't shoot a secret photo/video,I took a couple of photos/videos to remember, then just got high with beauty on stage.

Daughter's first ballet.
On January 19, we visited Cipollino's fairy tale ballet at the State Kremlin Palace.
I love ballet, I was just thinking about starting to get my daughter who's six years old. And Cipollino was just the perfect fit to get to know this beautiful art form.
1. The Kremlin Palace is a great location, and there is something to see on its grounds. One of those places where you have to visit both adults and children.
2. The choreography of the ballet group is wonderful, light, airy and flying.
3. The costumes and sets are bright, colorful, just to entice the child.
4. The libretto is succinct and understandable, there is no sense of lingering.
5. The ballet lasts exactly as long as the child will be interested (2 hours with intermission).
6. The hall as a separate type of pleasure - beautiful, large and impressive, with excellent acoustics.
I was a little worried my daughter would be bored, but she loved it, said she'd definitely go to another ballet here with me. Now Cherry is her favorite character, and by the way, I also liked the charismatic and talented artist singing Cherry the most. And the most memorable scene is the Countess Cherry Ball. It felt like going back in time and really being at the ball among the twirling ladies in the beautiful outfits of the time. Daughter now holds balls for her dolls :)
And after the ballet, you could take pictures with Cipollino, Radishka, Magnolia and Cherry and get autographs.

In October, they watched the ballet "Esmeralda" with their mother at the State Kremlin Palace
A touching tale of love, betrayal and the death of a young gypsy woman.
From the first minute, you're immersed in medieval Paris. The music, sets and beautiful costumes perfectly convey the spirit of the time
Esmeralda: beautiful, sweet, gentle playful, conquered since the first appearance! All her parts were very technical and light. Delight, Brava
Grengoir: Poor poet, beautiful parties
Actaeon: strong, bouncy, lasting delight! What legs...
Frollo's clade: a true villain, a slight sense of darkness from his parties
Quasimodo: complex role, hard to portray temple, oblique and yet dance beautifully. Impressive, I believed it.
The last dance before Emeralna's execution left a comb in his throat, tears hard to contain + Quasimodo's dance with the dead Esmeralda. The very tragic end of the death of a gypsy and a bell girl...
Claimed 12+ (younger if children are ready for a sad ending)
Duration: 2:45h with 1 amusement
Time passed very quickly. That's a very good indicator of quality performance.
Important: queue for entry to the territory itself, search, arrive in advance. You have to take your jacket off - because of the crowd the doors are open, cool, unpleasant. She shot 1 star for that. BUT the ballet and the organization inside the palace is beautiful

🩰Cipollino Ballet
at the KREMLIN Palace🩰
🧅When I found out I was going to the Cipollino Ballet in the Kremlin, I expected something special, but reality exceeded my expectations!
🍅First, a quick and convenient entrance to the Kremlin Palace: just a few minutes from the subway, and here I am at the foot of the stairs to the Kutafia Tower! Amazingly, this time, coming 1.5h before the start - I saw no queue and climbed up the steps unhindered for a quick check-up! The weather was sunny and before the start of the play I had time to walk around the territory of the Kremlin, and the schoolchildren who came with the class - rushed to take photos near the Tsar-gun)
🍋When I entered the hall, I took my seat in the parterre - it was on the left of the stage, and unfortunately a tall man sat right in front of me - I had to move right and left to watch the dynamics of the movement of the cordeballet with the main characters! And there were many of them: Cipollino himself, Cipollone the father, the head of the police Tomato, the Lemon Prince and his entourage of lemons, the old Pumpkin, the Countess of Cherry with Count Cherry and his friend Magnolia, the Professor Pear, the Parsley the dance teacher, and Cipollino's Radishka the friend! You can't list them all!
🍒Now about the ballet itself! The first action is just an explosion of emotion! The cheerful aerial dancing of fruits and vegetables, the sweeping stepping dance of Signora Tomato with assistants, the inconsolable dance of Cipollino's injustice with friends are all felt through the presentation of images through plasticity, virtuosity, technical saturation of each element👏
🍐The second act expresses everyone's confusion and struggle in the dance, but everyone is saved by the miracle dance of the beautiful Magnolia, which distracts the well very charismatically dancing guards that their jumping alone is worth! They were not even negatively perceived, rather they caused a smile) The dance of the Count Cherry and the miniature Magnolia at the end created an aura of tenderness and lightness around him💞 The Cherry was just a charmer, the hall bathed him in applause!
🎉Well-transmitted by the plastic dancers the return on the explosion of the cannon when everyone fell and the cannon volley itself was beaten by the stage's immersion in darkness✨
🌿Suits are a separate story! They're not just vivid, they're like lively characters from a Gianni Rodari tale. Cipollino's mischievous image with an onion on his head - who would resist? The exquisite costumes of the Countess Cherry - this is something special in general, a real celebration for the eyes, immediately remember court balls! The bright red guard suits and the señora tomato were excellent at conveying the "danger" of the characters to the children, while the colorful lemoniness of the prince-excellent suit gave negativity, laziness, superiority and cowardice to the image of Lemon👏
🍋The set is fantastic! They rotated throughout the performance, the brightness and scale, the multi-level and depth gave the scene a real look of a fairy tale brought alive before our eyes🪄
🍅The performance consists of 2 parts with a half-hour intermission, you can climb to the huge buffet on the 5th floor, where you have a beautiful view from the panoramic windows to the Kremlin, enjoy sandwiches and desserts, watch the ballet in progress on vast screens and take photos at the carriage-sets! There's a winter garden on the 3rd floor!
🍒So if you want to spend the evening on a high, enjoy the skill of Kremlin Ballet artists, the luxury of costumes and the atmosphere of the ancient Kremlin, - be sure to go to "Cipollino" - this is the case when classics come alive and give unforgettable emotions!
🍇And remember that "Cipollino" is a technically rich 2nd act, and I would recommend watching it to older kids, at least 8+, since to pay full attention to the action without words - it takes some experience with this art and a lot of sedence..

In the summer, after watching Cipollino's ballet, they decided to go to other ballets at the Kremlin Palace.
And it's winter and we've chosen the Snow Maiden Ballet. My mom kept me company.
After reading in the reviews that we should arrive in advance, we arrived 1.5 hours before the start of the ballet, calmly and quickly passed the street inspection -in winter you need to take off your outer clothes and carry a bag, like at the airport to pass all things through the security tape. We strolled around the Kremlin grounds (this is a big plus of daytime shows), saw the main tree on Cathedral Square, also I could not help but show my mother the wonderful winter garden of the Kremlin Palace, admired the exhibition of Zhostovsky Trays. I note that the palace has staircases and escalators, which is very convenient for the elderly!
The buffet is located on the very top floor.
So we took our seats and immersed ourselves in a magical fairy tale based on A.N. Ostrovsky to the greatest music by P.I. Tchaikovsky. Of course, we read the libretto (text, meaning) after the ballet itself, because the fairy tale Snow Maiden everyone knows from childhood. It was even interesting to unravel the characters. Snow Maiden's parents turned out to be Frost and Spring, and Mom was convinced by her costume that it was Winter. Leshi was certainly not guessing either, since the suit was light and airy, and we were used to the Leshi being dark green.
This ballet struck me as a dramatic love story, with the protagonists dancing-experiences in the second half. They danced incredibly, there were practically all the acts of many artists on stage, and there were also separate magnificent parts of Snow Maiden and Kupava and Mizgir. Turns out Tchaikovsky wrote the music for the ballet in just 3 weeks, and the libretto was written in 1961 by V. Burmeister, and the choreography was choreographed by the founder of the Kremlin Ballet - A.B. Petrov.
I want to celebrate the very beautiful costumes and ceremonial dances in this ballet. This reference to ancient traditions is very pleasing.
I would recommend this ballet to foreigners in particular.
There were a lot of ladies in the audience, companies, families with children, mostly girls. But it seemed that the children didn't understand much about the love and experiences of the heroes and so it wasn't interesting, we had a whole series of girls about 9/10 years behind us and they just didn't know what to do for the whole other half of the ballet. So think carefully before you take a little kid with you or explain the whole point to make it interesting to watch.
Tchaikovsky's music is so enchanting that I would like to say that for the whole 2 hours I was in a state of relaxation and although I felt very sorry for the heroes, I enjoyed very much both the ballet and the music, especially the fact that the ballet is accompanied by live music and it is the Symphony Orchestra of our favorite Radio Orpheus, conducted by Vladimir Kondrashev. So if you don't like ballet all of a sudden, come and hear this enchanting music!
My mother and I had a great time, not regretting choosing this particular ballet, the Snow Maiden.
There are also plans to go to other ballets at the Kremlin Palace.

My wife gave me a surprise gift - she invited me to the Kremlin Palace for a ballet.
"Ugh, I'm finally going to this legendary hall where everyone is so eager to go, and the Kremlin Ballet!" I thought. After all, the last time I was there, I was about 6 or 7, on the tree, but all I remember from there was eating candy under the TV with the episode "Wait a minute!"
But there was no wow effect with the explosion of childhood emotions and memories. Unless it's the entrance line. =)
However, we had to get there 2 hours before the performance, so according to my wife, we didn't catch the line (which I really can't agree with, but I'm used to our man not standing in line - not getting pleasure). Oh, come on. Let's be honest - we didn't stand for long at all, the checks went through quickly enough, and the main waiting time had to be scarred in the rather bleak through Soviet building of the Kremlin Palace.
It feels like time has stood still here since the dissolution of the Union, and progress has just been afraid to look through those bleak doors. Or they wouldn't. Or you're stupidly sick of freezing in line. But honestly, it's not what you expect from the country's premier venue. Old, massive, pressing, global. DK ZIL on the max, basically.
But back to the agenda. Turns out they brought me to the Cipollino Ballet. Yeah, yeah, baby. Ballet. Two hours. With alcohol in the buffet. Baby boy. Ballet.
In general, the Palace never ceased to surprise. =)
Spoiler alerts, too - spectacular, but totally incomprehensible even to me, something on stage to the coolest live music. Thank you Karen Khachaturian - without his talent, it would be very difficult for me to take the production. And thank you to Radio Orpheus’ favorite Symphony Orchestra!
Although, no, I'm also grateful to the director Valery Leventhal. Thanks to his work, the obscure-what-on-stage was very beautiful obscure-what.
But it's very difficult for me to say anything about the ballet itself. Yes, I knew perfectly well from the beautiful costumes who was on stage, and even gave or took a look at where I was probably in the book (thanks to my daughter for her interest in reading), but the real thing going on on stage was, in my opinion, absolutely impossible to understand. Some chaotic events wrapped in beautiful classical choreography. It's twirling, flying, squatting, it's incredibly fascinating, but what's going on out there is impossible to understand in life. That said, the same "Swan Lake" or "The Nutcracker" is perfectly understandable, but no less fascinating. Apparently, this story is a lot harder to tell without saying. And not wisely, because the fairy tale is a children's only on the surface, and inside it is a fairly tough political satire with all sorts of references and meanings.
So it's in the plot that I'm more likely to have one big claim. Any other story could be told here - and it would be "Cipollino" exactly the same as this one. And the piece could only be guessed from the stunningly elaborate colorful costumes.
The atmosphere is gorgeous. Music is even better. But nothing more. Ballet is not a child's ballet at all, I believe. Very protracted, I would say - boring for an active young mind. I had a good rest, disconnected from the outside world, in some places even frankly bored (because what is happening on stage, again, is not at all clear and of little interest from the point of view of the plot, and just following beautiful movements for so long is a little boring). And if the music wasn't so beautiful, he probably would have left after intermission. Although, by all accounts, the audience quite enjoyed everything. Well, the taste and color of the flomasters, as they say, are different.
To recap, the production is impressive, done with sprawl. Incredibly beautiful sets, costumes, gorgeous live music are all such big pluses that it's worth going for. At the same time, the ballet itself is beautiful, but not very different from any other (for me personally as a totally unsophisticated audience and not a fan of ballet to the bone), what happens on stage looks drawn out, chaotic and very much strained (on, like, conformity to a book), the hall is huge, incredible, but directly as historical as the word "fundamentally unmodern", and, man, alcohol in the buffet of a children's performance, well! So I can't give more than 7/10.
