Were on the Kursk Spit in early September. The most boring tour ever. They advertised (dancing trees, Eph dunes). God. Ordinary forest. Sand overgrown with grass. There's nothing to see. We took the sightseeing bus - longoo. Not recommended!

It's cherry on a cake in the Kaliningrad region.
Locals warned that if you swim, it will only be after 40 km. Food and drinks are expensive, purchased in advance at Victoria and Spar supermarkets.
It's amazing - a wide beach gone 40 km into the sea (swimming where the car park "Efa Dune"). On the other side of the beach is the purest pine forest 1 km and 40 km of the bay. Buying hot smoked local eel and bream here - it's impossible to describe in words how delicious.
Sand - powder, water crystal clear, bottom smooth sand and chest 10 meters from the shore.
Quite a walk up Müller's height and met some very strange pine trees in the dancing forest.
Arrived at 10 a.m. and returned at night, driving slowly down the road serpentine.
Without being here, most of the impressions of the region will not reach. This is the first place to visit, leaving Kaliningrad as early as possible to avoid getting stuck in traffic. It's important to fill a full tank, one refill at the end of the spit. From Kaliningrad to the beginning of the spit 40 km and on the spit 40 km, then back, as the local gamekeepers do not allow overnight in the tent at sea.

The place is interesting, but nothing more. There's a spit fee. The main tourist locations are specially laid wooden decking, from which you cannot leave. The height of Eph is a wooden observation deck. The view is beautiful, but it needs pushing. The dancing forest is all fenced, the crooked trees cannot be approached, and in general there are not more than a dozen. Souvenirs are more expensive than elsewhere. Catering trouble. Anyway, it's all steps for beautiful photos. The beaches are wild (not even changing rooms). Toilets are expensive and ugly. Something wrong with the tour service.

Больше всего понравились локации озеро Лебедь и высота Эфа (и дикий пляж там же). Лучше всего посетить их утром часов в 8, тогда велика вероятность, что больше никого кроме вас там не будет. Можно встретить разных животных: зайцев, лис, косуль. Встречаются ещё довольно любопытные эндемичные для Калининградской области растения. Можно посетить фрингиллу, возможно повезёт и вы увидите как ловятся птицы, лично мне просто было приятно послушать главного по птицеловству. Остальные локации показались унылыми и неинтересными, особенно танцующий лес.
Когда ехали туда, очень боялся что где-то не будет парковки и т.п. На самом деле парковки есть везде, правда часов в 13 уже может быть проблематично найти местечко. Проблем с проходимостью нет, на косу можно ехать даже на машине с низким клиренсом. Другая проблема - на фрингилле и рядом с высотой Мюллера не ловит связь, каршеринг вы не закроете. Впрочем, едва ли там кто-то будет угонять машину.
Будьте осторожны на дороге, так как ездит полно строительной техники, ремонт дороги по состоянию на июнь ещё не завершён. При этом дорога извилистая, соответственно видимости нет и обгонять никого не стоит.
Если бы мы поехали ещё раз, я бы просто весь день отдыхал на пляже где высота Эфа.

Of course this is a must see! Man-made forest reserve! Sea! Bay! Sand dune! This is a magnificent creation of both people and nature! And people have been sensitive and careful about this for many decades. It is important. A must visit!

If you have time/desire/opportunity than to go to the spit on an excursion in one day - a large group, a small one, individually - it doesn’t matter, it’s better to stay there for a few days.
I lived in Morskoye - I specially climbed into the farthest and most sparsely populated place. 2 km along a forest road - the sea is straight, Efa to the left, Swan to the right) Everything went on foot, without haste, without company, absolutely having a blast. Forest, silence, beauty... Sea....!!! Oh, what a sea there......
There is a regular bus service to Zelenogradsk; you can get to Miller Heights, the Dancing Forest, and the “Rybny Dvor” in Rybachye.

A protected area, beautiful nature, flocks of amazing birds in the crowns of huge trees, singing sands, an endless beach and conservation tourists looking for fragments of amber))

My husband and I went on an excursion. We were satisfied. The main thing on this trip is:
+ small group of 8 people
+ 4.5 hours for the entire excursion
+ comfortable bus
+ great guide
+ you can find an uninhabited part of the beach for yourself. I understand why locals come to relax.
There were thoughts of going on our own, on bicycles or by public transport, but I will say this, if you go on your own, you won’t get such an immersion. Still, a good guide makes the difference.
The Curonian Spit is a place to reboot and meditate. Disconnect from the city.
A nice place.
The water is refreshing at the end of May, but my husband took a swim!

It's certainly worth a visit. Without this there will be no visit to the region. On the spit, everything is strictly a step towards a 4 thousand fine. They tell all sorts of fairy tales about the “dancing” forest. But everything is much simpler. You must climb the 2nd largest dune, this forest is optional. Walk along the shore. The ornithological station is worth a visit, it’s interesting for children.

Hello. We are planning to take a day trip to the Curonian Spit by car driving from Kaliningrad. I understad that there is a fee to pay when we reach the checkpoint at Zelenogradsk. Is the area of the Curonian Spit accessible all day long or is it closed at a certain hour. Do we have to leave the area at a certain time or can we drive in and out as we like?

Подскажите, чтобы увидеть основные достопримечательности Куршской косы плюс прибрежные городки Ниду, Палангу и прочие - как и куда лучше прилетать из Москвы: Калининград / Вильнус? Насколько я понимаю, Нида, Паланга, Клайпеда - литовские города, а значит, нужно Шенгенская виза, чтобы там оказаться?
Пожалуйста, проясните ситуацию.

Здравствуйте! Конечно же для посещения литовских поселков и городов нужна виза. Что касается вопроса "куда прилетать" - это зависит от ваших предпочтений. Конечно же в Вильнюсе больше "европейского". С другой стороны, Калининград, мне представляется, более дешев и прост с точки зрения логистики. Если Вы планируете побывать в литовских краях несколько дней, то я бы рекомендовал прилететь в Калининград, взять машину в аренду и спокойно ездить куда вам заблагорассудится - если конечно есть шенген.

There are train and bus. The train is longer, hours 6, given the small distance of 200 km, bus 2 hours, well border. The visa you need exactly, maybe even to do it from You in Greece at the Russian Embassy in advance, I think it will be the easiest option.

Чтобы обойти косу, до нее нужно сначала доехать... По дороге без обочин. То есть, пешком по ней идти нереально. Обычно берут такси и доезжают до стоянки, откуда уже отправляются на осмотр. Остальное - просто идти по мосткам - и все.

Since you have to cross the Polish-Russian border the company where you plan to rent a car would have to give the permission and a green card for driving in Russia. When you cross the border you can drive to Curonian Spit without any problem. Only you have to pay entry fee for Curonian Spit just before the spit. It costs 150rub for a car and 150 for every person
