Wow ! I don’t know that someone would ask me the question until today! But maybe it was too late for you. We were from Sapporo station by subway to 円山公園 and transferred bus No.円14 . When you get there, you must check the last time of bus at bus stop. The last one to Okurayama is about 4 -5p.m. Because we missed the last bus ,so we walked (5-10 minutes )down to the previous bus stop and took the same bus No.円14 back to 円山公園.

今シーズンは雪が少ないので、4月は余程の事がない限り路面が出ていると思います。行程にもよりますがレンタカーで行った方が楽だと思いますよ！地下鉄東西線の円山駅からJR北海道で大倉山に行くことも出来ます。

The area is not easy to get to with public. Best is a cab. We used a private car with the driver waiting for us. Maybe cheaper to just let the taxi go the. Request for another as soon as you finish.

Hi Salient, 1. They are open for Christmas. (refer to their website) 2. It is about a 1 hr bus journey from Sapporo. Bus 57 (abt 7 stops) from Sapporo station, walk a short distance to catch bus 14 (5 stops) to foot of the hill and a short walk to the observatory. I used google map as most of the description is in Japanese. The timing provided are surprisingly accurate. Bus entry is in the middle and exit is in the front of the bus, reverse from our system in Singapore. Payment is made when you alight from the bus and no change is provided, so keep the coins for the bus trips. Do let the bus driver know where you intend to alight, the bus captains offer excellent service but their command of English is limited, so I used google translate to communicate with the Japanese.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I remember seeing Mount Moiwa from the top of the observatory, and even though they are in the same area, Google map route shows 3 transfer on the bus line. I would have to guess that there is no direct bus.

There is no age limit, and actually some people brought toys to play in with in the snow when I was there.

12 days is awesome to spend in Hokkaido. suggest keep 5 days for Sapporo and the rest to see Asahikawa, Furano, Hakodate, Niseko, Otaru, Jozenkei. All the places mentioned above can be done as a day trip from Sapporo. Sapporo City has lots to see . I saw all of the above except Niseko in 6 days. Sapporo start day 1 with Odori park, Sapporo beer museum tanukikoji street and Mt.moiwa at nite. Day 2 you can travel to Mt.Okura which is half an hour drive from city centre, on way back do the maruyama park and the zoo. night time visit the susukino area for some amazing ramen noodles and don't miss a ride on the tram. Third day I suggest a visit to the Sapporo university. afternoon can be spend shopping around the main Sapporo station area . Evening you can visit the Sapporo factory and eat at the famous Indian restaurant Taj Mahal. Day 4 you can check out Nakajima park which is one of the finest parks. later in the day walk around the beautiful riverside. evening you can dine at the Daimaru at JR station . Rest of the days suggest do not plan anything specific and just walk around the beautiful city and discover small eateries cafes and shops .
