丘からポツリと頭のさきが出ているのが頭大仏で、世界的な建築家安藤忠雄さんの設計によるものです。広大な敷地には巨大なモアイ像、ストーンエージなどもあり、撮影スポットにもなります。
10月中旬だったので、ラベンダーは見れませんでした。ラベンダーの丘はとっても綺麗なんだろうなと思うと、残念です。
頭大仏の側には、おみくじや仏像が鎮座しています。
真駒内駅 北出口を出て左手のバス停から106番のバスに乗れば、滝野霊園の入り口前で降車できるので、入り口近くのモアイ像を見たあと頭大仏にお参りした後、108番のバスで真駒内駅まで帰る事が出来ます。所要時間40分程度。108番のバスは、1時間に1本しかないので、帰りのバスをチェックしておく方がいいと思います。

This place is just amazing - Planned by world famous architect tadao Ando, it features a big vareity of sculputures from many cuktures. It's free of charge (although you might get asked to pay "donation money" for the place - like I was). It offers a small cafe, and a big parking lot. Absolutely must visit.

真冬の大仏も意外と雪に埋もれていない。ドームから頭を出した形といえばわかりやすい。頭大仏と言っても頭だけあるのではなくて、ドームから頭だけが見えると言うこと。身体はドームの中に座しています。ラベンダー畑に囲まれた広大な場所です。多肉植物のショップもあります。ラベンダーオイルを購入しました。

This place was full of calm and tranquility. Plenty of big, open spaces for kids to stretch their legs. Unfortunately, there were almost no benches or seats in the vicinity. It was also awkward to sit down on the ground to rest because the place is so open, almost everyone could see you. Regardless, still a nice place to stop by, if you have some time to spare.

Catching the local bus to this destination was part of the charm as you go past a spectacular reclining gold Buddha on the way. The snow covered Buddha was so serene and peaceful. Magnificent elegant architecture and will always stay with me.

So beautiful and clam place to visit, it's easy to travel by public transport, small donations need for the park, also, there's a small cafe as well. Loved it.

This is a very special place and thorough modern shrine. It might be at its peak when the lavender is in flower but we visited in the autumn and the colours of the distant trees and clarity of blue sky was superb to see. If you are planning to visit in conjunction with Sapporo Sculpture Garden, come here first as the bus back only runs until 14:00.

Easiest way is to take the Green subway south to the end of the line then a taxi (about 3,000 yen). There is bus service,too, (number 108) but it only runs once an hour
