It's a botanical garden near my house. I went there for the first time in about 30 years. The entrance fee is 200 yen and the greenhouse entrance fee is 200 yen, which is very reasonable. I visited because the shokudai konnyaku in the greenhouse had bloomed, but the flowers had wilted. But inside the greenhouse, there are rare plants that you can't get enough of. It is also called Hangi-jinja Shrine. There is also an unusual shrine and it is famous for attracting the faith of the textile industry. Finally, this is also the centenary year.

Vast and varied botanical park, a little neglected (perhaps they have the alibi of strong winds at other times of the year). Don't miss the peonies and the greenhouse. Bonsai collection. Here too, captions in Western languages are absent. Bring a hat. It's nice to return to the centre, at least for a few kilometres, walking along the river: a bucolic landscape.

On May 9, 2024, a clear May day, the shade of the trees was cool and comfortable, making it the perfect day for an outing. A large crowd of people of all ages, from groups of kindergarteners to lonely elderly people, had gathered. Some were having lunch in the shade of the trees. It was a peaceful and beautiful scene.
The highlight of the day was the rose garden, where roses were in full bloom, giving off a variety of fragrances, from strong to subtle. Other eye-catching flowers included German irises and peonies. The wind was so strong that it was a bit unsuitable for photography, and the ground swayed a lot when I tried to take a picture.

Although it was mid-November, colorful flowers were in bloom. The wild garden, which stands out as you enter from the Kitayamaguchi entrance, is full of flowers in unusual shapes. In the rose garden, there are still many roses in full bloom, even though they are past their peak. Canna flowers were still in bloom. A chrysanthemum exhibition was being held next to the lawn square. The large greenhouse is open until 4pm and costs an additional 200 yen, but it is well worth seeing.
The rows of camphor trees were beautiful, and I was impressed as I walked through the still lush greenery.
I imagine it must be difficult to manage such a large botanical garden, but admission is only 200 yen! Free for those over 70 years old. If you come to Kyoto, I recommend this as one of your sightseeing spots.

The cherry blossoms have already lost their leaves. The autumn roses are starting to look lonely. The persimmons are changing color, and the maples are starting to be illuminated at night.
Now that the coronavirus situation has calmed down somewhat, we are looking forward to the farm and greenhouse projects, but what makes us even happier is that we may be able to visit the Takeda Pharmaceutical Kyoto Medical Plant Garden again.

Big, colourful, but not top notch. Have to pay extra for glass house but nothing special apart from actual building.

Nous avons loué un vélo pour les 2 jours à Kyoto. C’est magique , le long du canal.
Nous avons poussé jusqu’au jardin botanique, une bulle de tranquillité. Cela doit être à faire aussi en mai où les glycines et les cerisiers sont en fleurs.

こちらの《菖蒲園》は200品種 10000株とそれなりに大きな規模ですが 6月7日訪問するも 今年は《花菖蒲》は不作だったようです。《花菖蒲》があまり咲いていないので ｽﾀｯﾌの方に 訪問したのが 遅かったのですか？と質問するも 残念ながら 今年は不作で あまり花が咲かない状態で終わりそうとのことで、来年に期待するしかありません。 一方で園内の《森のｶﾌｪ》や《植物園会館》では 《ﾊﾞﾗとﾗｽﾞﾍﾞﾘｰ》のｼﾞｪﾗｰﾄ（添付 写真参照）が 400円税込で販売されていましたので 如何でしょうか（ｼﾞｪﾗｰﾄのﾒﾆｭｰとしては 全6種類あります）。又 《観覧温室》の中に《昼夜逆転室》があり 展示されている花の一つに《月下美人（夕方から咲き始め 朝にしぼみます）》があり 昼間に鑑賞出来ますので 見逃さないことお薦めします。更に 正門近くに《植物園会館》があり 内部に【植物園】の1/500模型（添付 写真参照）が展示されてあり この模型を見ながら 散策ﾙｰﾄを決められることお薦めします。

320種1,400本のバラ園であるから次々と咲いていくが、それぞれにピークがある。今年は連休の頃だったろうか。
総面積24ヘクタール、12,000種12万本とはすごい。
久しぶりに一周する。温室にも入る。ハーブ園から植物生態園にも回る。
さりげなく雑草のような展示でもあるが、管理は大変だろう。

It depends whether you are a nature lover or not. Anyway I am not but still minimum you could spend an hour and a half to two as were photography takes time.

I would agree with Susandevon that for the bonzai trees alone the botanical garden is worth a visit but there is a lot more to see as well. I think around July you might just see fireflies but I can't be sure either.
