After lunch, we continued our museum hopping. We made our way to the National Museum of Anthropology by cutting through the National Museum of Natural History and walking halfway around Agrifina Circle. We climbed up the grand stairway to the portico entrance and were required to present 1 government-issued ID for our group of 6. We were directed to the ground floor to have our belongings deposited at the baggage counter. Free admission.
There are basically 3 out of 5 floors to see and explore. We casually walked around, focused on select artifacts that caught our eyes and read up on some every once in a while. Same with Natural History, the museum pieces are labelled in English except here in the National Museum of Anthropology the long, detailed texts are completely bilingual: English and Filipino. Highlights of our visit include the huge "banga" ceramic jars, "Sarimanok" mythical bird, "Kulintang" musical instrument and "Baybayin" traditional script.
This museum is clean and well air conditioned with spacious washrooms on every floor. The galleries are well curated. It was not as busy here compared to Natural History but then we visited on a Tue afternoon. Some in our group stepped on inconspicuous tape marks on the floor and the guard immediately told them to move back. Just put rope barriers, okay? We left after an hour and headed next to the National Museum of Fine Arts.

This free museum isn’t large, but it has a nice collection of anthropological artifacts to see. I didn’t find it truly outstanding (my subjective opinion), and I would’ve appreciated a cafe on-site to purchase some water. I know the National History Museum across the street would’ve been a better choice—I could only choose one due to time constraints.

This museum is part of the Philippine National Museum, located near Rizal Park in the Ermita area. It has a spacious exhibition of folklore and archaeology. It is well explained about the anthropological changes in each region of the Philippines, which consists of more than 7,000 islands, and its relationship with neighboring countries, so I think it was worth visiting.

Rid yourself of the colonial past - and history as told by the invaders - Spain and the U.S. This has the refreshing - and sometimes humorous - side of the story.

We spent two hours which was not enough. We enjoyed the museum a lot coz we visited some of the indigenous groups and the need to support them more. They put in a lot of information and exhibit for you to appreciate the various cultural aspects of different areas and groups. We could have spent more time if it want closing time. I only wished they had a gift shop and a cafe inside the museum.

Probably the best of the museums in Manila, lots of artifacts and information. Could easy spend the best part of the day in there. Such a shame they do not have a coffee and cake room anywhere in the building. They are definitely in need of one.

This Museum was known before as the Museum of the Filipino People and is near Rizal Park. I is part of the National Museum. It is in an impressive building but was closed when I went to see it. It houses Ethnological and Archaeological exhibitions.

A terrific compendium of Philippine history. This is a must-see. Start at the top floor and wend your way down. You will not be disappointed.

The information people expect to see in this museum is far from what you really get once you start the tour. You will mostly read who the donor is, who sponsored which arts and paintings. Mostly, the arts and paintings you see are newly made out of recycled materials. Locals were so loud and only took their photos from the entrance to the stairways, hallways without any consideration that there were other people in the building. Kids running playing around. The museum itself is not informative. I'm deeply disappointed and felt so embarrassed 😳 about ignorance and narcissism of some.

This is one of the three national museums of the Philippines and focuses on indigenous cultures. There are a lot of items that give an idea of the different cultural practices of the islands. Some of the exhibits were more interesting than others, but this is a worthwhile visit.
