Located in Ulus District, XIIII. Built by Minar Mehmet Bey in the 19th century, it is one of the most important works of stone, wood, brick, tile and kundekari technique, and has gone down in history as the dervish lodge complex of Hacı BAYRAM, the most important spiritual pilgrimage of Sheikh Hacı Bayram, where the tomb of Veli HZ is located.

Religious conquerors can't help themselves. When they find a temple or church, they have to build their own shrine/mosque next to it - if they don't destroy it first. So I guess we must count ourselves lucky that we still see remnants of the pagan Roman temple butted up against the mosque.
Haci Bayram Mosque is a pretty average mosque visually, but it is important shrine for the Sufi poet and popular with pilgrims. The area around has lots to offer in terms of attractions, restaurants and parks.

Praying here is an incredible experience. A temple next to a tomb is a rare sight in the world. Ablution rooms are clean. You can find anything religious you are looking for here. From here, all kinds of material and spiritual values are distributed around. If you are hungry, you will find food, if you are naked, you will find clothes and spirituality that will feed your soul...

Haci Bayram is one of the oldest Mosques in Ankara dating back to 17 century Ottoman era. While the architecture is quite usual Ottoman style you can see all over Turkey, I found its location much more interesting.
As you're approaching it you'll spot the Roman era Temple of Augustus from the 1st cent. Considering its age its pretty good preserved, specially two main walls.
The Mosque is built right beside the Temple with its back wall relying on the ancient Temple wall which I found interesting and pretty odd.
You can enter the Mosque which has beautiful wood carvings inside, and on the right side of it is Haci Bayram grave which appears to be a pilgrimage site as many wait in line to pay their respects.
