I started going to the Athens Farmers Market decades ago when it brought people together on the old airport runway, now long-gone under tennis courts and a skateboard park. Now the largest year-round farmer's market in the state is about to move again. But what will always be a constant is the opportunity to access healthy local foods and the rich local community of vendors and customers. It is a meeting place, a crossroads for the diverse city and county, university and farmer, student and older adult communities to come together. So bring a bag for carrying home vegetables, local honey, fantastic bread and funky Avalanche pizza creations, herbs, soap, and naturally some local tortilla chips and popcorn.

Great small market area, lots of fresh veggies, honey, Kettle corn, clothing, plants, etc. Lots of available parking.

I love the Athens Farmers Market!! I just wish they would NOT cheat people who use WIC out of their coupons! They used to get $3.00 coupons and the vendors would have their produce listed for $4.50, so therefore if a woman using a WIC coupon really wanted the item, she had to use two of her coupons! Put would not receive any more produce. So to me that is ripping her off but also the WIC program in general.
There is a large verity of things to chose from, a little high priced for the area. Not everyone can afford to go....so maybe work on that a little. I'm just the kind of person who not matter what a persons status is, I think they should be able to afford fresh produce. Its super yummy!

I go to the Athens Farmer's market every weekend. The selection is the best in all of Ohio. French baker chocolate croissants and chocolate or lemon tarts are a real treat but don't miss Avalanche Pizza who is not always there as they make things that you'll never see at their storefront - - beyond pizza with combinations of ingredients you'll wish you had thought of it, yourself. Great place to find grass fed meats, seedlings for your garden, flower bouquets, sprouts of all sorts, potatoes and more. I have my favorite vendors but everybody is great.

A multitude of great choices, especially in the spring summer and fall seasons. Everything from vegetables to flowers to baked good and tea. Vendors are friendly and very helpful. Prices are somewhat high but it is good to be able to help local farmers and craftspeople. There usually are also master gardeners with free information and local musicians. A very special tradition here in Athens

We love going to the Athens Farmers Market. The variety of fresh produce is awesome and the farmers themselves are wonderful to talk to as we shop. My favorites are Creekside Farms Goat Cheese, soap and yogurt drink. And Laurel Valley has the best Gruyere cheese. There is wonderful grass fed beef, breads, croissants, middle eastern cuisine. Once a month there are craft vendors too.

The Athens Farmers Market is an outstanding source of fresh in season produce as well a baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs,local wines, garden plants and flowers. Also available are hand made crafts. There are more than fifty vending It is one of the finest farmers markets in the state

The Athens farmers market is the place to be on Saturday mornings. Especially during the summer months when produce is plentiful. There is a variety of beautiful fruits and vegetables, herbs, eggs, and meat.

This is a stop worth making for fresh veggies, fruits, honey, meats, flowers etc etc. This market is well run and has a wonderful variety of stalls. The merchandise changes with the seasons. There’s a great vibe and great people.

This farmer's market has locally grown, baked created and brewed food and drinks items. There is always a large selection of baked goods, fruits and vegetables. There is music, wine tasting and fine art to boot! Always well attended by diverse crowd. Kids and dog friendly.

Planning to come up tomorrow how has the fresh produce been? With the rainy weather didn’t know how the crops have turned out and if it would be worth the drive
