Trying to go, but haven't yet. Please add Arcadia to the map then I can find it. Hope it's open when we go. I had to guess at a rating or this wouldn't post, I feel that it will be better than average though.

Consigliato!

This wasn’t one of the ‘must visit attractions’ planned for my Route 66 motorcycle adventure, and if it wasn’t for half-a-car sticking out of the roof, I would have continued on my merry way.

I wasn’t sure if it was a house, junk yard or museum. In fact, It’s all of them. As a rule, if the gate is open, you can enter. After walking around for a few minutes admiring the diverse range of vehicles ranging from a ‘VW Love Bus’ to a 1914 Ford model T, bumped into John (owner) - who was having lunch. He was ever so friendly and suggested looking inside the building while he finished up.

Turns out John purchased the property 15-16 years ago and starting collecting route 66 memorabilia from across the country. John paints and some of the works on show are his. He also relayed wonderful stories from his route 66 travels and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the interaction. He also has a detailed knowledge of planes/cars and interweaved some of the vehicles - he had on show - into his stories. Not knowing what to expect - and short on time - thought I would have a quick 15-minute visit and found myself leaving 75 minutes later.

There is no admission charge or donation plate. The Auto Trim & Mini Museum turned out be one of my favourite route 66 memories and John’s stories just added to the experience. This is a ‘must stop’ visit as the museum has character, lots of character.

They said if the gate is open then come on in. We were really hoping and it was open. We went up to the business and started looking around. The owner came in and welcomed us. He told us all about his collections. There were just things everywhere. It was pretty incredible. He said he didn't know how it started, it just happened. Just wander around and see everything. He offered us cold bottled water as well. A very nice guy.

What a neat place. John is so talented. We throughly enjoyed walking around his property and seeing all the weird signs and creations. My husband even helped him push the car he was working on up onto a car lift. Such a neat place and nice guy. We loved this stop on our road trip. Might even have been our favorite.

I love finding interesting places not even on our list. The owner is a friendly and talkative man. He showed us around. We loved the movie theater and ice cream parlor room, which he used to have kids parties at. Lots of interesting things to look at inside and outside of the building.

See Filmore and see Herbie (coming half way out of the building) , lots of old car and vintage Oklahoma, Route 66 stuff! The tin man, a tin dog, cool and kitchy just like the rest of Route 66! Worth the stop! Old cars, old gas station memorabilia are scattered about, a VW bug coming out of the ground... just a fun interesting place. John Hargrove (owner) is an avid runner, route 66 bug, a skilled car & airplane buff (has restored numerous cars and airplanes interior & exterior), so plenty of interesting things to talk about and see!

John, the museum guy here, showed us around the place and told history of some of the items. He bought this piece of land 15 years ago and started building and collecting the coolest stuff. Many things here are his versions of RT66 attractions across the country. The museum is open if the gate is open. There is a 1914 Ford, a "love bus". There is a front half of a VW coming out of the 2nd story wall that you can sit in and view the back half of it buried across the way. Sit in the booth of a 50's diner/drive-in movie. We spent about 45 minutes looking around and when we go there again I'm sure we'll see things we missed the first time. There was no admission charge. John is a super-nice guy.

John is a true artist and philosopher about like and Route 66. We intended to spend a few minutes instead of the nearly one hour talking with him as he showed us around his collections. It includes most of the major sights along Route 66 accompanied by art work, done by himself and others. It is truly eclectic and worth a see.

There is no fee and he even offers cokes and drinks. By he is only open when he wants and if the gate is open.
