Restful stay

One night stay in the winter at the lodge in a king bed with sofa bed room. The King size and sofa bed were very comfortable. Large rooms all with balconies facing the lake. Witnessed an amazing sunrise over the lake.

Not many winter activities in the state park but that's okay. Made for an enjoyable restful stay.

Highly recommend this place

I'm going kayaking that was the funnest and the scenery. The people were so nice the day couldnt have been better. It was assoIuntly Beautifu!

Not worth the trip!

Came up here to ride the SXS and do some swimming. You can’t have pets in the park at all. You can’t have certain things in your cooler. There is only 10 miles of trails and you can’t ride them if you have any kind of pet at all. The lady at the check in said you can leave your pets in the truck and every once and awhile I will go check on them. Umm NO I will not leave my pets in the truck for 8 hours. This in not a family pet friendly place and I will not come back ever. Wasted trip!

Overall a great time

Once we got thru the nightmare of checking in, the time spent was amazing. Kids loved the water sports. Now, to elaborate, we waited almost 2hrs to get checked in. Kelli(sp) was wonderful, she was able to give us discount for the first night, but that was the least they could've done. The a/c in the bunkroom did not work well, the master a/c sounded like a leaf blower was on it all night long, sprung a leak in the kitchen - was actually addressed quickly, thank the lord. Not enough trash bags, or counter space, but it's a cabin, not a permanent house.
Now for the positive stuff - the kids loved the pool, the water sports and just overall room to roam. We will definitely be coming back next year, hopefully all the hiccups will be resolved by then. 🤞

Depends what Time Of Year You Go,Now That Covid Restrictions Have Been Lifted

The reason I titled it this way is.The marina/swimming area was crowded but there still seems to be a lot of other places to camp or stay on the lake,you just have to do your research first.For me 20 yrs. is a long time in change. Will go back again

Loud music is allowed

Tent site was over $50 for two nights. There are two groups in the campground with very loud music playing, starting at 730 AM. The park office told me the only rule regarding music is that quiet hours start at 11PM. If you prefer any peace while camping, would recommend going to any Texas State Park, or even pitching your tent at a truck stop before bothering with this nonsense.

Clear Lake water!

Beautiful lake water. Best I have probably seen anywhere. Enjoyable breakfast at the restaurant at the Lodge. Beach areas of the lake could be nicer. Plenty of picnic spots. Nice gift shops. Friendly park rangers. Worth a return.

Wonderful Kayak Experience

Lovely lake. We are kayakers, and in October little if no boat traffic, so a wonderful place to spend a few hours on the lake.

Very pretty park.

We visited the park over two days for some fishing and sightseeing. This is a very scenic park and all of the facilities looked to be very nice. We are not into camping anymore so we stayed in Ardmore which is only about a 15 minute drive from the park. The park does not charge an entrance fee but does charge for parking. If you rent a camp space, your parking is included. You can use an online app to prepay your parking in advance and there is no check-in at the park. Very convenient. We did some fishing feom the two fishing piers in the park. I use a mobility scooter and both are easily accessible. Lots of bites and drowned worms but no luck. The park was very peaceful and there were lots of hikers and bikers using the trails. We, along with our fur babies, enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful weather. We will definitely be back.
