Very bad experience. All the bird feeding areas are closed. Have to ask for someone to come to open. When it is opened, they only allow to stay for less than 5 minutes. Very disappointed. Very poor

Absolutely horrible conditions for the animals. Blaring pop music and neon lights. The entire place smells like fish and animal poop. I feel so bad this place is allowed to stay open. Do not visit, they’re on a PETA watch list. I wish we never went.

This place is sad and disgusting. It has to violate every moral, ethical, health, and legal code in existence. Do not spend money here. How in the world is this place allowed to operate? I wouldn’t let my child touch anything and wanted to leave as soon as we walked in. Spent max of 30 minutes after spending over $70 to enter. The poor animals were in crowded cages. It was dirty and disgusting. There was a guy painting the baseboards out of a plastic cup with kids and animals everywhere. There was a sad giant tortoise in the corner that looked like a stool at first. I am legitimately bothered by what I witnessed there.

This place is depressing. It’s more a petting zoo than an aquarium. Animals look depressed and the whole place smells like ammonia from the urine. I can’t believe Austin is allowing it to operate. We couldn’t see what was going on until we entered. I felt horrible being there and contributing to what was going on. We stayed 30 minutes and left because it was so sad we couldn’t take the experience anymore. These animals are touched and fed all day everyday, and they all looked defeated.

Climatizado, esta agradable para caminar y pasar el rato.
Dejan alimentar y tocar con cuidado a algunos animales.
Si recomendable.

While I am an animal lover, believe in their rights and have read negative reviews on this facility, we still visited and had an amazing time. I understand people’s concerns with the spaces the animals are in, especially the koi fish but I can say we spent a lot of time with staff and they were taking great care of the animals, their enclosures and were knowledgeable about the animals. We felt the location was clean.
Our teens had a blast reading information, feeding and petting specific animals. We had a lengthy sloth encounter that was awe setting and we will never forget it.
A “mermaid” can give fake glitter tattoos, tv with info running, and a balloon animal stand.
They have Icees, snacks and free parking. Benches and chairs to take breaks on. Most to all of this exhibit was handicapped accessible and buggy accessible. I say most because every need and assisting device sizes could run differently through certain animal enclosures.
Located near expressway, Starbucks and gas station in a former big box grocery store style mini mall.
Large gift shop at end of exhibit.
For all ages.
This will take at least 2 hours of your time.
Worth the money. Buy lots of tokens. Staff were kind, had patience and were knowledgeable.
We would definitely return.

As another reviewer stated, this place should be shut down. So many animals under duress. So sad. It's disgusting inside. Dark and dank and depressing. Really Austin? This is the best you can do. Oh yeah, it's also quite expensive for the experience.

Please don’t give this place your business.
We came here on Sat and the minute we walked in, we saw parrots flying freely around and one of the parrots looked visibly unwell. The feathers on its head is almost all plucked off. I don’t know about you, but that’s a first red sign to me that the animals here may not be well taken care of. And we had parrots flying really close to us a few times, which is a little unnerving.
We checked out the lemurs that are close to the entrance and one of the lemurs jumped at us, hitting the glass that stood between us and startling us.
I can see the appeal of this place to children. There are a lot of interactive opportunities for kids to feed, pet the animals. However, none of these stations seemed to be managed by any of the staff so it feels kinda like “pet/feed at your own risk.”
There are a few places where you need to pay tokens in order to interact or touch the animals but once again, I hardly saw any staff member at any of these stations, which seems concerning to me. Are they just expecting visitors to know how to handle animals with care?
There is a bird aviary that does not require tokens but it is the saddest aviary that I have ever seen. No windows, and the space looks really depressing. We didn’t go in. I was not comfortable bringing my two young kids into anywhere where there is a obvious lack of supervision.
There was another station where there’s macaws who were not supervised and there was no barrier between them and us. But there is a sign that says “Don’t hold these birds. Strictly enforced.” Enforced by who? There was no staff there, and hardly anything stopping a curious kid lunging forward to try to hold those birds.
The place looks pretty unkept and floors were wet in a lot of places we walked by. Overall, we felt the place was very poorly managed, dirty (my husband calls it a dirty dungeon) and the animals we saw seemed depressed. Even the plant that was sitting next to the tortoise was dying.
I did not feel safe in this place with my kids and we left after 20 mins or so.
I read later on that a women was attacked by a lemur in May this year and that Austin’s Animal Advisory Commission is looking to recommend new rules pertaining to interaction with wild animals that will impact Austin Aquarium.
This place needs to be shut down, and the animals moved to somewhere where they are properly taken care of.

The aquarium is in a strip mall. We were very disappointed at how few “fish” that were in there. We bought 5 tokens for our granddaughter to feed animals with- super glad we didn’t buy more than that.
I would not recommend to a friend, I also will not revisit.

Avoid this place at all costs! The innocent animals and dedicated staff endure unimaginable mistreatment, leaving behind an atmosphere drenched in sorrow. It breaks my heart to witness Austin's lamentable lack of a genuine Aquarium, while the profit-driven owners callously exploit the void for their own gain.

I don't remember the exact price schedule, but I do remember that it is one of the most reasonable things to do in Austin. Unlike some other aquariums I have visited, even the gift shop(s) have reasonable prices -- about half the price on all merchandise. I bought the most darling little pair of shark-shaped baby booties (great face, and wiggly teeth) for less than $10. And I am not one for souvenir-shopping. The entire place is geared to children having a great hands-on experience and really enjoying themselves while their adult counterparts also find interesting and fun things to do. Whatever the fee, it is nominal (i.e., fairly cheap).
