I was at the Rio Vermelho Market on March 31, 2024. I went to the market to make some time before heading to the airport. The market has everything you find in traditional markets of this model, fruits, fish, meats, preserves, seasonings, sausages, cheeses, grains and nuts, as well as shops (I had an iced coffee and ate dessert in a coffee shop very good), and small simple restaurants (there is one that serves pork knuckle in a large, I would say, monstrous portion), and there I visited a snack bar (a snack bar that serves lunch) – Lanchonete Shalom Rio Vermelho, which was a pleasant surprise. I chose to have lunch there. I went for the house's main dish, a cod steak with potatoes. The dish came in a sufficient portion for 2 people at an affordable and fair price, with a good texture and delicious. I ate as well as before in establishments where the price of the dish is more expensive.
This was my experience that day at Mercado do Rio Vermelho, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

The Rio Vermelho Market was a pleasant surprise. Certainly if all the shops and restaurants were open and the place was more touristy, the experience would be even better. The market was recently revitalized, there is plenty of parking space and I recommend it as an excellent place to eat regional northeastern food (not just Bahian food), buy special coffees from the Chapada Diamantina region, buy souvenirs and enjoy a pleasant and peaceful walk. It is clean, organized, safe and pleasant.

This place is very interesting for those who want to buy typical Bahian foods, such as cocadas, tapioca beijus, sweets and jellies, among other items... Infinitely more affordable than at the airport. Tip: never buy from the first store, as prices vary. Good option to buy souvenirs from Bahia (food). It's also a good place to have Bahian food for lunch and buy specialty coffees (there's Latitude 13 and other specialty coffees from Chapada Diamantina are sold at the Empório in the food court).
For the purpose, I think the market serves it well. You can also find chocolates from the south of Bahia. Note: don't go expecting a big market, like the Central Market of BH, as it certainly won't meet these expectations.

The market is traditional and very cool. There are several simple restaurants that offer good food at affordable prices. Very good for buying fish. The place deserves to be renovated and improved.

Excellent place for shopping, it has excellent quality regional products (family farming emporium), handicrafts, vegetables, meat and fish all with excellent presentation. There are several restaurants and tasting places worth visiting.

It's a more modern market, but it loses out to the old architecture of the Mercado Modelo, few kiosks with the same products as the Mercado Modelo without much difference in price, and reasonable restaurants.

It's much better than the model market and has fruit and fish, as well as good quality regional products. The model market work involves a lot and the location and facilities are infinitely better.

Como fizemos a visita em plena segunda-feira de manhã, não acho que possa avaliar com toda a franqueza o local, uma vez que várias lojas estavam fechadas. Mas onde comemos foi bom, e as lojas que estavam abertas já exibiam alguma variedade de produtos. Espero poder fazer uma avaliação mais completa em outra oportunidade.
