Ho visitato questo luogo a novembre 2019 durante il mio viaggio in Myanmar.
Il monastero è leggermente nascosto nei dintorni di Bago ed è famoso perchè una delle strutture ospita un grande pitone venerato dai fedeli.
Per la fede locale questo pitone è la reincarnazione di un monaco venerato. Una volta entrati la particolarità dello Snake monastery è costituita dalla presenza di un enorme pitone, che dorme ricoperto di banconote che vengono date in offerta dai fedeli.
Ci siamo stati di passaggio durante la nostra sosta a Bago per spezzare il viaggio di ritorno dalla Golden Rock , ma non consiglio di andarci di proposito.

Of course, the architecture of the pagoda itself is very interesting, but the living representative of the deity - a huge fat boa - takes the main attention.

Wer mal ein riesige Schlange sehen will und dieser ganz nah kommen will, der ist hier richtig. Außer der Schlange gibt es aber auch nichts weiter zu sehen...

One almost doesn't see the pagoda here as the focus is on the 129 year old Burmese Python in residence. The snake is impressive to be sure but so much so the rest of the pagoda is almost forgotten.

We came back to Bago to see this snake , the staff was friendly and did not hassle us , we gave a donation
Many guide will give you information on the history, the road leading to pagoda is not sealed and lots of rubbish dumped

But isn't that how princesses should behave? I thought it was worth seeing this huge python that is revered in local culture. Don't make a special trip to Bago just to see it, but if you are already there, go for it!

Si vous croisez la route de la pagode pourquoi pas mais l’intérêt est vraiment limité à part le serpent vraiment imposant.

Questo monastero ospita un pitone birmano femmina di circa 120 anni. Viene considerato come la reincarnazione di un monaco. Il monastero ospita cerimonie nat durante la luna piena.

Di per sé non è niente di speciale... Ma il pitone è veramente grande. Nella sua casa ha anche una piccola piscina. Carine le foto del custode da piccolo con il suo amico e poi incontrarlo ormai 60enne...
