I’ve been to plenty of zoos in plenty of places, I can honestly say this was the worst zoo experience, ever! First off the price to get in is ridiculous . Basically $20 per person even for toddlers. Then we enter to find exhibit after exhibit blocked off and closed. We literally saw one elephant, there were no giraffes, no lions tigers or bears. No zebras nothing exciting for the kids, Nothing. We saw a turkey, chickens and a very small amount of animals in the petting zoo. If you’re going to charge this much, how about u have something more than we can see in our own back yards? They know their exhibits are closed yet still continue to charge full price? That’s insane. Worst zoo EVER. Do not go and waste your money ans your little children’s time!

Great little zoo! Clean and quaint! Easy to do in a 2-3 hour window of time. Has a cute train to ride for a separate fee (under 4$) and the free botanical gardens are across the street. Great shopping and restaurants in the area (2 min from zoo) as well. Could spend a whole day over at that side of town!

Went on a Sunday midday, was not crowded. Lots of shaded and indoor areas to view animals with air conditioning. Husband rented an electric wheel chair due to recent foot surgery. Well worth the $28 as he was able to see all of the sights. Zoo was clean and animals appeared well taken care of. Lots of very knowledgeable staff. Had lightning in the area so the train, the adventure tower and all of the snack locations closed which was understandable. I was confused as to why one of the big restaurants closed because of the lightning though.

I love the Birmingham Zoo! There are so many fun exhibits, and it is very well done. It is a great place to walk around. I also love that they have a heart to give back to the local Birmingham community.

They were doing a good bit of construction and repairs, so some things were not accessible. I'm hoping they'll do something more creative for the elephants, they just seemed lonely and bored. The overall layout is nice, lots of moms and preschoolers the day we were there, so I assume it's a local destination!

I.went with my Son,Daughter and Son-in-law. There were a lot of sculptures ,photo opps, & garden areas. There were all kinds of animal.exhibits ,both indoors & out. They had a children's area & a Souvenir/ gift& snack shop. There are water fountains &clean restrooms. They have a small train that rides on tracks through the zoo. Nice place to.go . The zoo could take photos of tourists though,to sell, to raise more money. Souvenirs are way too high priced. They had a few restaurants there,but all of them were.closed for some reason.

We went to Glow Wild and had a blast. Well done. Looking forward to coming back in the day and seeing all the animals. We are luck to have you in Birmingham. Our family loves the zoo.

Not worth the money. $20 to get in hardly any animals alot of enclosure closed. Selling bottles of water for $4 Just crazy if you ask me. Not sure where they are using their money for but it's not for updating the zoo. I won't be back.

Our first stop in Birmingham for a one day trip in September 2023. Arrived a few minutes after opening and greeted with the typical "we chose to come on the same day as a local elementary school trip" sight of tons of kids and chaperones. Fortunately we avoided most of the crowds on our visit. First impressions of the zoo weren't that great. I felt like most of the animal enclosures were not kept and/or clean. Specifically the bird areas were overgrown with brush and weeds. I also felt that the zoo was missing its "main attraction" animals. Thrie was no headliner zoo animal that really stood out to me. I thought the zoo was laid out well and it was fairly easy to move around. Parking was easy and close to the main gate.

Very disappointed! I understand you can’t predict which animals will be out, but the Enclosures are small and depressing… and EMPTY! Social animals in very small, outdated enclosures alone. Train not running, carousel dismantled. The quiet areas are a nice if you need a break. Lots of construction going on, so maybe things will improve. I would not recommend. Should be free or half price while there are so few animals housed there.

Where do I get tickets online ahead of time and would I have to wait on a line that people are purchasing to get in when I get there?

We will be in town for a tournament and will have about 2 hours between games, then be done around 3 oclock. Can we reenter the zoo with our original tickets if we go in the morning, then come back in the afternoon?

Yes you can. I forgot backup batteries for my camera & went back into the parking lot & they let me back in with my original tickets. You're given physical tickets that they can look at & scan.
